A YOUNG woman was shot in the face as she opened the front door of her townhouse south of Wollongong last night.
The 21-year-old woman was attacked by a man after she answered the door of her home on Baymee St, Koonawarra about 6.20pm.
It’s believed there were three young children in the house at the time of the attack.
The woman was airlifted to St George Hospital where she remains in a critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
An hour later police arrested a man in his 20s after they stopped the car he was travelling in on Industrial Road at Oak Flats.
A police spokeswoman said the man and woman were known to each other.
A crime scene was established at the townhouse and investigations are continuing.
