Zarif greets MG Bagheri as new Chief of General Staff

TEHRAN, Jun. 29 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Zarif has congratulated Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri on his appointment as the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a message on Wed., Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif felicitated Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri as the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, saying “I have full confidence in your success in strengthening and improving the defense-security foundations of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of Iranian Forces [Ayatollah Ali Khamenei], given your highly valuable experiences, expertise, commitment and outstanding merits.”

On Tuesday, Commander-in-Chief of Iranian Forces Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri as new Chief of Staff of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Bagheri replaced Major General Gholamhossein Firouzabadi who has held the position since 1990.
