Israel abducts 10 Palestinian fishermen off Gaza coasts

Israeli occupation naval forces abducted on Monday morning ten Palestinian fishermen off the coast of the occupied Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military attacked the fishing boats near Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, Nizar Ayyash, head of Gaza’s fishermen union, said.

In addition to the abduction of the fishermen, the Israeli occupation navy stole their fishing boats, which are the means they use to get their livelihoods.

Attacks by Israeli naval forces on Palestinian fishermen are routine, with Israeli authorities enforcing a unilaterally-imposed “no go” zone that has dealt a severe blow to Gaza’s fishing industry.

Last month, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian fisherman, whose body has yet to be returned to his family for burial.
