It has been more than a month since the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.). Still, the story continues to evolve, with more details coming to light thanks, in part, to Joel Greenberg, a close friend of Gaetz. The alleged violations of House rules that are being examined could include sexual misconduct, sharing inappropriate images in the Capitol, illegal drug use and acceptance of bribes.
In this video, POLITICO senior writer Marc Caputo explains where the allegations against Gaetz began, and how the investigation has developed since we first heard about it. Caputo also discusses what this investigation and the news coverage of these allegations means for the future of the young Florida conservative who has remained strong in his denials.
