Today, 31 Dec 2011, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign organized a vigil to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Israeli massacre “Operation Cast Lead” on Gaza, which started on the 27th Dec 2008 and lasted 23 days, with more than 1400 Palestinians killed and over 5300 injured, destroying or badly damaging houses, schools, hospitals, mosques and devastating Gaza’s infrastructure. To this day, Israel continues to control over Gaza’s airspace, coastline, borders, telecommunications, water, electricity, sewage systems. Clearly, Gaza’s blockade is a collective punishment, it is a violation of international humanitarian law and it has to end.
