Six people from around the world have won Tourism Australia’s Best Jobs in the World competition, which will see them installed as spruikers for various parts of the country.

This year’s competition comes on the back of Tourism Australia’s hugely successful 2009 marketing campaign that saw Englishman Ben Southall win a six-month “caretaker” role on Hamilton Island.

Take a look at who this year’s winners are and what their jobs will entail:

Elisa Detrez (France): park ranger, Queensland

Elisa, who speaks four languages, has a masters in Business Management Tourism and a degree in political sciences.

She will spend time taking rainforest and beach walks, promoting local flora and fauna and learning about Indigenous culture.

Allan Dixon (Ireland): outback adventurer, Northern Territory

An aspiring entrepreneur, Alan Dixon, used the power of social media to get celebrities like Bear Grylls to support him in his campaign to win one of the best jobs in the world.

He has also created and sold his own internet company. His hobbies include skateboarding, photography, trampolining and cycling.

In his role as outback adventurer, Allan will journey through the Territory, spending time camping and meeting Indigenous people.

Andrew Smith (US): chief funster, New South Wales

Andrew studied finance at university before moving to South Korea where he “discovered his great love for exploring the world”.

In his role as chief funster, Andrew will be based in Sydney and travel the state, tweeting about festivals and sporting events and attending PR functions as a “Sydney VIP”.

Rich Keam (England): taste master, Western Australia

Rich has a diploma in music and his previous jobs include working as a magician and as a professor at the Imagination Institute at Paris Disneyland.

To woo the Tourism Australia judges, Rich wrote a song called My Fremantle Girl.

In his role as taste master, he will tour restaurants, wineries and breweries around Western Australia as well as trying his hand at catching his own seafood and sampling Indigenous delicacies.

Roberto Seba (Brazil): lifestyle photographer, Melbourne, Victoria

Roberto is a food and travel photographer who has worked with Lonely Planet magazine.

He is also an accomplished filmmaker and has had work featured at the Berlin Film Festival.

As Melbourne’s lifestyle photographer, he will work with Time Out magazine to document Melbourne’s “cool cafes, hidden rooftop bars, hot air ballooning, major festivals and music events.”

Greg Snell (Canada): wildlife caretaker, South Australia

Greg has a degree in adventure tourism and has worked as a tour guide in Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Patagonia.

Based on Kangaroo Island, Greg will have to keep visitors informed about the local wildlife, such as dolphins, sea lions and of course, kangaroos.
