A New Low — Video Catches City Writing Parking Tickets Then Put Up Signs Saying “No Parking”

Chicago, IL — Parking tickets represent one of the worst elements of bureaucracy that there is. For allowing your purchased parking time to run out, i.e. not putting in enough change into the meter, a police officer or other low level revenue collector will write you a ticket claiming that you now owe them 100 to 1000 times what the parking meter would have charged you.

Citizens are told that this pays for the roads, however, taxpayers already do that. What writing tickets and putting them on parked cars really does, is pad the bottom line of bureaucratic fat cats. If you choose not to pay a parking ticket, you could end up in jail, or worse.

As if preying on the citizens of the town through revenue collection schemes like parking meters wasn’t bad enough, a Chicago resident just filmed an extortion racket on Wednesday that we’ve never seen — putting up ‘no parking’ signs after ticketing vehicles.

“It feels like an undeserved ticket at this point. These signs were not here when I parked last night,” said Joseph Castleberry in an interview with FOX32. “I got home from work about 2 o’clock last night. I’m in the house all night. And I come out this morning with a ticket on my car.”

Castleberry’s ticket was for ignoring a street cleaning on Hoyne Avenue, but his surveillance camera footage from his house exposes the city as criminals.

“I have surveillance cameras on my house, so I go back and watch my footage and I see that they ticket me and then put up the sign for the next day,” he said.

That’s right, the video shows an unscrupulous meter maid issuing tickets to cars who are 100% legally parked, only to come back an hour later and put up signs saying they are all illegally parked.

“All I see is a meter maid lady come by around 10:30 and start ticketing the cars. So I keep rewinding forward and about an hour later, someone else comes around and starts posting the signs up,” Castleberry said.

The incompetence was so rife within this extortion racket that the tickets for the future signs were not even justified as the signs were for Thursday not Wednesday. They actually put up the wrong signs.

“I don’t want to call people out on what they do -but I am paying the price for it and I’m sure several other people are,” Castleberry said.

The local residents are handling their criminally negligent extortion rather well, with Castleberry’s neighbor, Al Gates saying, “If they would admit their mistake that would be nice. We don’t want to hang anybody. We don’t want to crucify anybody. We’re law abiding on this block. We’d like to be treated fairly, that’s all.”

Only after a local news team exposed their racket did the city promise to throw out the tickets. This raises the question as to how many times this has happened in the past to people who don’t have surveillance cameras on their homes.

The city will also be addressing the parking enforcement team to remind them that the signs have to be posted before they can write tickets — as if that needed to be said at all.
