Ahmad Shah Massoud

Today 09th of September 2011 is the 10th anniversary of Afghan national hero   martyred Ahmad Shah Massoud. This date nominated martyr- week by the government of Afghanistan. Balkh province like the other province of Afghanistan conducted this anniversary in official event in one of biggest hall.Ahmad Shah Massoud was leader of Jamiat party originally from Panjsher province of Afghanistan.

Ahmad Shah Massoud was a Kabul University engineering student turned military leader who played a leading role in driving the Soviet army out of Afghanistan, earning him the name Lion of Panjshir. On September 9, 2001, two days before the September 11 attacks in the United States, Massoud was assassinated in Takhar Province of Afghanistan by two suspected Arab al-Qaeda suicide bombers posing as journalists.

Balkh governor house, chief of staff Mr.Fayiaz Mehrayeen delivered speech about Massoud accomplishments and called Massoud as historic man that Afghan history won’t forget him. On occasion of martyr week, all head of government Departments were participated in this gathering.
