An Arkansas youth pastor is facing child pornography charges after his wife reportedly found images of underage girls on his computer and turned them over to police.

According to KAIT, an affidavit filed in Jonesboro District Court on Wednesday alleged that 39-year-old First Assembly of God Pastor Tony Waller “had tens of thousands” of photos and videos of “nude or scantily clad pubescent girls” on a laptop that he shared with his wife, Angela.

Waller’s wife told detectives that she was searching for a file when she came across a folder that she did not recognize. The folder contained “thousands of images of prepubescent girls either completely nude or scantily clad,” the affidavit said.

When he was confronted by his wife, she said that he admitted having a child pornography addiction for more than 20 years.

Comment: It’s called pedophilia (not child porn addiction) and it’s not curable.

The laptop and two hard drives were turned over to police, who arrested Waller.

Senior Pastor Matt Smith told KAIT that Waller was fired as soon as the allegations came to light. He had worked at the church since 1999.

“First of all to the best of our understanding, the allegations against Mr. Waller don’t involve anything with our church as far as we know,” Smith said. “I encourage the church to handle this with three prongs of love: focus on loving each other as a church family, show tremendous of love to his family and continue to love him.”

Comment: Are you kidding? Churches and religious institutions are a haven for pedophiles. It’s one of their favorite places to hunt for children. That sort of ‘encouragement’ is one of the biggest things that allows pedophiles to get away with what they do.

Waller was released on $2,500 bond. A court appearance was scheduled for June 29.

Comment: From Predators: Pedophiles, Rapists, and Other Sex Offenders, Who They Are, How They Operate, and How We Can Protect Ourselves and Our Children by Dr. Anna Salter:

“One molester, who himself was a minister, said: ‘I considered church people easy to fool … they have the trust that comes from being Christians … They tend to be better folks all around. And they seem to want to believe in the good that exists in all people. And because of that, you can easily convince, with or without convincing words.’

In interviewing victims in the growing number of cases involving priests, I have been surprised – although I should not have been – by how deeply religious many of the victims’ families were. I have never before grasped that it was the most religious families who were thrilled to have a priest take an interest in their children, who wanted their children to be altar boys, who could not believe that a priest would do anything so wrong.

The growing crisis in the Catholic Church just underlines the fact that offenders can recognize ideal settings for child molesters even if the rest of us can’t. In truth, a deeply religious and trusting group of people, plus the requirement of celibacy (an ideal cover for any man who has no sexual interest in adults), plus a hierarchy that doesn’t report complaints to the police and simply moves the offender on to new and fresh territory with new potential victims, is the ideal setting for pedophiles.”

In reference to the comments in the article from SOTT, paedophilia is a “sexual interest in prepubesecent children” not as is commonly ascribed, a sexual interest in teenagers. You can be a paedophile and not look at or be addicted to child porn. You can be sexually attracted to teenagers and not look at child porn. It really is a very rudimentary understanding of human consciousness that you seem to have that you put people all into the “good” camp and the “psychopath” camp without actually even beginning to try to understand why people do these things. Perhaps its becuase I’ve spent the past 15 years trying to understand my own mind, dealing with the consequences of having aspergers syndrome, ADHD and having been abused as a child and raped as a teenager, that I’ve faced a huge battle with intrusive sexual thoughts, and tried hard not to end up allowing these things to become pathological. Because THAT is how a psychopath is born, when you become disconnected from your heart, your spirit, your conscience, and are guided purely out of you ego driven subconscious desires, be they for power or money, or for sex. But every single time, you look into the past of people who committed crimes, became psychopathic, and there you will usually find some form of childhood trauma or another. So stop with the judgment and perhaps think about how we can stop these things from happening in the first place in the childhoods of these people.

Exactly, it is not about treating or shunning the symptoms (Tho do not mistake that for punishing bad choices. Everyone has a choice to act or not act. You pay for the consequences of that choice.)

It is about treating the cause.
Sadly, our society breeds negativity, it fosters bad choices. It is not the individuals’ sole fault for how they turn out.
Human nature is more fragile than anyone cares to admit or acknowledge. Society is cruel. Family can be far more cruel than society.
But it is all connected.

If the legal system stops allowing parents to be parents as they continue to do, things will get worse as time has proven.
It starts with people taking their rights back to be parents and guardians.

Judgement is necessary everywhere in everything. And, pathology is pathology, regardless of how it occurs. Some are capable of resisting and surpressing the deviations in their mind, some aren’t obviously.

In the case of this story, the one issue that stands out to me besides the fact that he’s a paedo, is that he’s a pastor. The fact that he doesn’t see his problems and step down says a lot about how pathological the guy really is. He can’t even lead himself, much less a congregation.

That’s my perspective.

Now I’m sure that I will have some judgments passed about me after making this statement, but I don’t see the big deal in looking at photos of young girls. If all your doing is downloading and viewing pictures, who does it really hurt?

I understand that there are a lot of different ways that men find these photos, and some women as well. Most people find them through sites that share these photos and videos free of charge.

I also know that there is a different sect that are pathological about it and actually pay for photos and videos. Some even go so far as to commission photo and video sets and pay a lot of money to do so.

The latter type is what perpetuates illicit youth portraiture and videography.

The former does nothing to perpetuate the cycle, they do not contribute to future abuses of young men and women. They are just people who appreciate a younger form. Most of these people would never take their fascination any further than just looking at pictures or videos. They are not the ones that will abduct a young boy and physically abuse them. They are not the ones who will kidnap and sexually abuse a young woman for years in their basement.

It is a bit surprising to me to see the attitude of absolutism that the SOTT editors are taking. Everything in life is colored in shades of grey.

Now, having said that it is entirely inappropriate for a pastor, or anyone who works directly with youths, to have this particular fascination. It would have been the act of a real man to admit that he had a conflict of interest and should have selected a different line of work.

He was asking for trouble by using a shared computer to store those images.

His wife is a real curmudgeon for turning him in. That is the truly scary part of this story. Instead of quietly assisting him to make better decisions, she has absolutely ruined both of their lives.

This is the future of America, people, wife will turn against husband, brother will turn against sister and parents will turn on their children.

You don’t see any problem with “looking at photos of young girls”, “they are just people who appreciate a younger form”, “his wife is a real curmudgeon for turning him in”

Sheesh. Pathological thinking.

What an outrageousIy insensitive, callous statement you made there, bud. Have you ever thought about how those girls in the pictures came to that point in their lives in the first place? “Who does it really hurt”, indeed? I highly doubt girls that fit the age range of “pre-pubescent” are posing for those pictures by choice. No girl of that age is going to naturally say “I want to be filmed naked and having sex with men three times my age”. At that stage of their life they have to be introduced to it, usually by some sort of abuse, coercion, or deception.
By downloading and viewing this media, this pastor was doing his own part in fueling the demand for it, continuing the cycle of sexual exploitation of children for the entertainment of some very demented, depraved people.

You wrote:

“His wife is a real curmudgeon for turning him in. That is the truly scary part of this story.”

Which it certainly isn’t. Then you went on:

“Instead of quietly assisting him to make better decisions, she has absolutely ruined both of their lives.”

While saying nothing at all about your (presumably non-existent) direct knowledge of their relationship.

Maybe he has been at this for years, maybe she has caught him before, maybe she has (good) reason to suspect him of more than merely owning a photo album of only a few tens of thousands of pix . . .

And she didn’t ‘ruin” anything.

Their ‘relationship’ has been a non-relationship for decades for the simple reason that he has never been there.

What she did then was initiate bailing herself out of an association with an asshole . . .

And re-reading before hitting ‘Add Reply’ I see that:

“When he was confronted by his wife, she said that he admitted having a child pornography addiction for more than 20 years.”

So how about being sure you’ve first -read- the info and that done, being sure you have your head on right way round before you run your mouth like this:

“This is the future of America people, wife will turn against husband, brother will turn against sister and parents will turn on their children.”

because this is blither . . . .

How you two can rationalize pedophilia in any form is pretty revolting. There isn’t a black or white view to convey. It is wrong and evil. Have you thought of the children being photographed, and exploited? Have you thought of the lives they lead, the relationships they may or may not have with people after having these experiences? Do ya think at all!?

Agreed, I not sure the ‘apologists’ for this crime have a leg to stand on. I just wish the more high profile and better (politically) protected members of this species around the globe, would get what’s coming to them!
