CHINA and other Asian countries could end up at war over territorial disputes if governments keep up their “provocative behaviour”, US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has said.
Speaking to reporters before arriving in Tokyo on a trip to Asia, Mr Panetta appealed for restraint amid mounting tensions over territorial rights in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.
“I am concerned that when these countries engage in provocations of one kind or another over these various islands, that it raises the possibility that a misjudgment on one side or the other could result in violence, and could result in conflict,” Mr Panetta said, when asked about a clash between Japan and China.
“And that conflict would then have the potential of expanding.”

Yeah right, if there was a plan for China to go to war in the high offices of Beijing, the military would’ve already knocked it out. Just go look at the 7 day war they had with Vietnam, they squashed their butts to surrendering before we got our pay-checks. Amazing, they knocked out North Vietnam in 7 days whereas we couldn’t do it in 14 years !
If you bring up Google Earth and look at those islands, they are just grass covered hunks of rock….
So what? They would go to war over nothing of value but their over bloated egos? I really wonder who is pushing this bull shit which nothing more than a territorial dispute. Let it go boys… Those hunks of rock are not worth fighting for.

Ownership of islands implies ownership of the mineral resources on the sea floor around those islands as well as extending the territorial waters.
