Puppy under vet treatment 9 Dec 2011

The RSPCA is appealing for information to identify the person responsible for injuring a puppy and disposing of her in a garbage bin on the NSW Far North Coast. The female three-month old puppy was found at the Woodenbong tip at 11.00am on Thursday 8 December 2011. A worker heard whimpering noises and found the injured pup covered in oil amongst waste dumped by a garbage truck. NSW Police and the RSPCA were contacted and the dog was taken to a local veterinarian.

The veterinarian found swelling at the back of the skull consistent with a blow in an attempt to kill the pup. The puppy has neurological damage and it remains uncertain whether she will survive her injuries.

The puppy is believed to have been collected by a garbage truck on Wednesday 7 December 2011 on a route from Mummulgum to Woodenbong along the Bruxner Highway and Bonalbo-Urbenville Road.

The white crossbreed puppy has a distinctive brindle patch over her left eye.

If the person who injured and abandoned the puppy in the garbage bin is located, they could face criminal charges of serious animal cruelty.

Anyone with information which may assist the RSPCA with their investigation is urged to contact RSPCA Inspectors by telephone on (02) 9770 7555 or toll free 1300 CRUELTY (1300 278 3589).

RSPCA put alot of healthy animals down, So I supect they will eventually put her down.. or will use this animal for advertising as much as they can for donations.
