I noted Monday that Obama is a pretend populist who says he’s fighting for jobs … when his policies actually increase unemployment.

Economics professor and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich – who presumably has good insider sources on job-related issues – agrees:

I’m told White House political operatives are against a bold jobs plan. They believe the only jobs plan that could get through Congress would be so watered down as to have almost no impact by Election Day. They also worry the public wouldn’t understand how more government spending in the near term can be consistent with long-term deficit reduction. And they fear Republicans would use any such initiative to further bash Obama as a big spender.

So rather than fight for a bold jobs plan, the White House has apparently decided it’s politically wiser to continue fighting about the deficit. The idea is to keep the public focused on the deficit drama — to convince them their current economic woes have something to do with it, decry Washington’s paralysis over fixing it, and then claim victory over whatever outcome emerges from the process recently negotiated to fix it. They hope all this will distract the public’s attention from the President’s failure to do anything about continuing high unemployment and economic anemia.

Cynical, indeed.

Fixing the US economy is very simple in principle, assuming that the crooks in DC wished to do so, which they do not. Bring all troops home immediately and reduce the Pentagon’s budget to $100 billion a year. Institute a three strike law against all businesses that hire illegals, with the third strike being total liquidation of the guilty business and harsh prison sentences for all involved.

Those steps alone would trim almost $2 trillion from Federal and State annual budgets while freeing up many millions of jobs from illegals, who do not pay taxes. The added benefit would be the extra tax revenue from legal workers. The obvious next step would be to remove all tax incentives and actually punish US businesses who out source labor, plus rip up all trade agreements.

If these simple steps were taken, the US economy would soar quickly. As a last step, end the Fed and have Congress issue a US currency backed by precious metals, commodities and perhaps manufacturing output. The entire downfall of the US started with the Fed, as they are the root problem.

IS this not Ron Paul’s message in a nutshell?
If you people (you too Alex) really cared about the country, that YOU say is being ruined by the ‘banksters’, you would close your bank accounts. Starve the banks/bankers and they will go away. Alex won’t dare tell Americans that the government CANNOT contact you for any reason unless you are infringing upon the rights of another American, that under the IRS’s own laws americans don’t owe a tax on their labor.
If Americans closed their bank accounts and stopped paying taxes on their labor, the country would begin recovering tomorrow and gas bag Alex would not have anything to talk about. He would have no show, have to mow lawns or something.

I think the labor secretary is right. Obama will just talk about the downgrade and blame everyone else. This is one guy who never takes accountability for anything. Looking back, it is fascinating that he got a Nobel Peace prize.
