Google+ trends: Android unveils KitKat

Google+ users are, on Wednesday, September 4, discussing Google’s rather surprising decision to name its next Android OS “KitKat.”

Google has a habit of naming its Android OS after confectionary or sweet snacks, “Jelly Bean,” “Gingerbread” and “Ice Cream Sandwich” being notable examples. However the software giant now seems to have taken this pattern a step further by naming its next OS after the Nestlé chocolate bar.

Although a spokesperson for Android told the BBC “This is not a money changing hands kind of deal,” it will undoubtedly be seen as something of a win for Nestlé and is quite a curve ball for those who expected it to be called “Key Lime Pie.”

Elsewhere on Google+ users of the social network are continuing to discuss the temporary arts, community and music festival Burning Man, which takes place each year in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada. The festival came to a close on September 2 after breaking attendance records and continues to be a hot topic of conversation for the second day in a row.

The top 5 most talked about topics on Google+ on September 4 at 9:00 AM GMT are:

01.   #KitKat
02.   #ArielCastro
03.   Burning Man
04.   #PrayForAndy
