Hague: work harder, do not complain

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Hague said, “There’s only one growth strategy: work hard.”

Hague also called on the country’s bosses to “get on the plane, go and sell things overseas, go and study overseas.”

“I think they should be getting on with the task of creating more of those jobs and more of those exports, rather than complaining about it,” he said.

The Sunday Telegraph said Hague was the best choice among British officials to deliver the message as Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne have been criticized for their privileged backgrounds.

Hague’s call for harder work comes as Cameron had said earlier this week that Britain must stick to its tough austerity measures.

Shadow cabinet office Minister Michael Dugher said the coalition government, which took a drubbing in local elections earlier this month, should learn lessons from the election results and stop blaming others for their mistakes.

“Instead, these out-of-touch government ministers are burying their heads in the sand and just want to blame everybody else for the fact their economic plan has failed,” said Dugher.
