Heavy rain drowns Olympic torch

Heavy rain swept itself northwest of England on June 22 as the beacon was being carried from Kendal to Blackpool.

Teams have been sent out by the Environment Agency as an attempt to reduce the ongoing risk of flooding.

Weather presenter Isobel Lang said, “The rain could continue for up to 12 hours, before moving northwards over Scotland.”

Yet, another weather warning has been issued by the Meteorological (MET) Office for possible localized flooding and surface water surrounding those areas.

The Environment Agency stressed that people should check their website for the latest updates and weather warnings, as a number of flood alerts and serious warnings were expected.

Many parts of England and Wales have been targets to heavy flooding and hazards in recent weeks, as unusually wet weather and strong winds came after two dry winters.

Last month, seven people were killed in Northern parts of England as a result of unusual heavy wind and rain that acted in a monsoon like manner. Some people believe that global warming is the cause to Britain’s unstable modern weather.
