Hillary’s Response To Why She’s So Close To Wall St. Bankers Will Leave You Scratching Your Head

In last Saturday’s Democratic debate, Bernie Sanders brought up the fact that his fellow Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, has been a recipient of  large donations from the Wall Street banks throughout her political career. Her response was nothing short of disturbing, considering the fact that the Paris attacks happened the night before:

“You know, not only do I have hundreds of thousands of donors — most of them small. And I’m very proud that for the first time a majority of my donors are women, 60 percent. (APPLAUSE) So I represented New York, and I represented New York on 9/11 when we were attacked. Where were we attacked? We were attacked in downtown Manhattan where Wall Street is. I did spend a whole lot of time and effort helping them rebuild. That was good for New York. It was good for the economy, and it was a way to rebuke the terrorists who had attacked our country.”

Surprisingly, CBS News, succumbing to the outcry on twitter, made Hillary clarify her remarks later on in the debate when the moderator brought up one of the many tweets that questioned her decision to cite 9/11 as a reason why she receives campaign donations from Wall Street. The tweet was posted by Andy Grewal, law professor at the University of Iowa:

Hillary responded:

“I’m sorry that whoever tweeted that had that impression because I worked closely with New Yorkers after 9/11 for my entire first term to rebuild, so yes, I did know people. I’ve had a lot of folks who give me donations from all kinds of backgrounds say, ‘I don’t agree with you on everything but I like what you do, I like how you stand up, I’m going to support you.’ “

And support her, they did. . .

Editors Addition: This takes us back to an important point we must not forget when it comes to politics and what events like this show us. We are being pushed to vote and play within a political system that is based around campaigns that are funded by the very companies that seek to gain from the election of certain individuals. The bantering back and forth that takes place is often a dog and pony show that helps pit the masses on sides and divides people. At the end of the day no matter who is elected, corporations and the cabal run the country and make the decisions -they are more powerful than government. Is it time we recognize this and work to come up with new systems or ways of working together on this planet? We can’t continually do the same thing over and over again and expect different results each time.
