Iran FM to attend Kabul regional meeting

“Iran’s Foreign Minister will travel to Afghanistan to take part in the Kabul regional meeting, which will be held on June 14, on future of Afghanistan,” Ramin Mehmanparast said on Monday.

He added that during the one-day meeting, Salehi will announce Iran’s policies on ways to establish stability and security and economic development in Afghanistan.

The Iranian spokesperson said officials from 13 regional countries and 12 trans-regional states as well as 13 international institutions would participate in the Kabul meeting.

Mehmanparast stated that senior experts would hold a meeting on Wednesday to set the framework for the final statement of the conference.

The US-led invaded Afghanistan in 2001. The offensives removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity still continues to rise across the country, despite the presence of about 130,000 US-led foreign troops.
