Iran launches sulfuric acid unit in Urmia

TEHRAN, May 31 (Shana) — Head of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) launched the sulfuric acid unit of Urmia Petrochemical Projects in the northwestern city of Urmia in West Azerbaijan Province on Monday.

Marziyeh Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, inaugurated the project while breaking grounds for construction of a 40,000t/y potassium sulfate unit in the facility.

She said the unit will become operation in a 2-year period and is aimed at completing petrochemical value chain in the region.

The unit is being developed with an investment of IRR600b provided by the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) which is a private entity.
