“The enemies and the big powers always make efforts to cause insecurity in the Persian Gulf because, for them, presence in this strategic region is one of the main factors maintaining power,” Ahmadi-Moqaddam said on Wednesday.
He also said that joint security cooperation with the Persian Gulf littoral states is among Iran’s priorities.
“Not only is not the existence of the powerful Iran in the Persian Gulf region a threat to the regional countries but it is a proper opportunity for these states,” the police chief stated.
Ahmadi-Moqaddam cautioned that foreigners are the source of sedition in the region and emphasized that they seek to safeguard their own interests.
Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan also said on Monday that the Persian Gulf states do not need outside assistance to maintain security in the region as extra-regional countries only seek to stoke insecurity to elongate their presence.
“There’s no need for the presence of foreign forces to provide security in the region,” Pourdastan said, adding that certain trans-regional forces seek to create rifts among regional nations in a bid to justify their presence in the region.
