Iran to hold parliamentary runoff vote

The runoff vote will be held in 33 constituencies in 18 provinces across the country.

After praising the high voter turnout in the first round of the elections, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday the Iranian nation will once more demonstrate its vigilance and insightfulness by participating in the second round of the voting.

“The Iranian nation will once again demonstrate its exemplary vigilance, insight and astuteness by being present at the scene,” the Leader said.

The first round of the elections was held on March 2 with around 67 percent of some 48 million eligible voters taking part in the elections.

Principlist candidates have already secured a majority in the Majlis by wining at least 180 seats of the legislative body in the first round.
