(Scroll down for full image) The Israeli embassy in Ireland, posted a message on its facebook page saying that Palestinians would kill Jesus and Mary, according to press reports.

The official facebook page of the Embassy of Israel in Ireland, published this morning a post, and then abruptly deleted it, which contained a provocative message. It said that “hostile Palestinians” would “lynch” Jesus Christ and his mother, Mary, if they lived in Bethlehem today.

 

The birthplace of Jesus is today part of the Palestinian controlled West Bank. The Facebook message, which begins: “A thought for Christmas”, including an image of Jesus and Mary. It was live for about two hours before being


removed.

 

An embassy spokesman said in an email that “the image and the title were published without consent.” It was removed and in its place it now states the following:

“To whom it may concern: An image of Jesus and Mary with a disparaging remark about the Palestinians were published without the consent of the administrator of the facebook page. We removed the post in question immediately. Apologies to anyone who was offended.
Merry Christmas!”
