A Dutch man who underwent hip surgery two years ago has
appeared in a TV interview claiming he has not been able to stop laughing ever
since.

According to Huug Bosse’s wife, her husband now spends his
days laughing at everyone and everything and it all started when he had a hip
replaced under anaesthesia in 2010.

‘It appears that due to the operation, due to the
anaesthesia, he was laughing more,’ Mr Bosse’s wife told the Dutch TV programme
Man Bijt Hond as he sat roaring with laughter next to her.

While Mr Bosse did laugh before, his personality had
significantly altered since the operation and he now laughed almost all the time,
she claimed.

‘Sometimes it starts to get really annoying all that
laughing the whole day,’ she said.

‘When you are having a discussion and all he does is
laughing, then it gets annoying.’

Mr Bosse’s wife said her husband did not seem to notice the
change in his demeanour, but producers from Man Bijt Hond appeared to have
trouble getting a straight answer out of him.

Huug, his wife, and Ernie from the Muppets... but she's still not laughing

Huug, Mrs Bosse and Ernie from the Muppets… but she’s still not laughing. His behaviour seems to have put a strain on his relationships with family members. His daughter and brother had become exasperated with his constant mirth, his wife said

‘I’m not saying anything,’ was all he would say about
any change in his behaviour, before laughing uproariously.

Mr Bosse’s chortling seems to have put a strain on his
relationships with family members.

His daughter and brother had become exasperated with his
constant mirth, his wife said.

‘They don’t visit anymore,’ Mr Bosse says, bursting
into uncontrollable laughter and slapping his knee.

Despite all the giggles, there is still one thing that can
make Mr Bosse cry — the Dutch national anthem, which he describes as ‘a
beautiful song’.

Hey, that’s my mother-in-law!

” I love to laugh, Loud and long and clear, I love to laugh, It’s getting worse every year”…..It’s Uncle Albert from Mary Poppins don’t tell him a joke or he’ll float to the ceiling.

I suppose, having taken a look at his wife, if he didn’t laugh he would cry. What a miserable old boot she looks. Keep laughing Mr Bosse.

This kind of hip surgery is badly needed for his wife.

Good grief! The expression “bulldog chewing a wasp” comes to mind when looking at Mrs Bosse! She looks like something out of a Les Dawson sketch, LOL.
Keep laughing Mr Bosse- looks like you need it!

@Kit Kat, Felinia, gosh Felinia you should be working in medical research!

Tripped on a paving slab and broke his hip, suffered side effects from poorly administered anasthetic. I hope he has a decent lawyer this could be worth a 100k. What, oh, this didn’t happen in the UK well never mind.

He must be a banker.

Just the other day, the DM had an article about deja vecu, where older people swear they’ve seen other people before, seen tv shows before, and read books before, where none of it is true. They have a sense of familiarity over things that are, in reality, not familiar to them. The process seems to be related to dementia. I wonder if this laughing dysfunction also is related to deja vecu and dementia? It certainly is not a normal part of his personality and should be investigated further.
