MAJOR STRIKE! Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air cancel all flights on Thursday

Due to the massive nationwide strikes taking place on Thursday, Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air cancelled all their domestic and international flights scheduled on Thursday (March 16).

Specifically, the Greek Air Traffic Controllers Association (GATCA) are participating in the 24-hour nationwide strike, they said on Tuesday.

Passengers can book alternative dates on www.aegeanair.com and www.olympicair.com, or call Aegean on 801-1120000 (from a landline), 210-6261000 (from a mobile phone), and Olympic Air on 801-801-0101 (from a landline) and 210-3550500 (from a mobile phone).

At the same time, buses will join the nationwide strike on Thursday with work stoppages from the start of the shift until 9:00 and from 21:00 until the end of the shift, the OASA staff union announced on Tuesday.

They will run normally between 9:00 and 21:00, leaving their depots at 8:30 in the morning.

A 24-hour nationwide strike has been called by the public-sector workers union federation ADEDY and the General Confederation of Employees of Greece (GSEE) on Thursday.

The bus routes operated by KTEL intercity coaches will run as normal.

According to a union announcement, the strike has been called to protest against deficient safety standards in public transport, as highlighted by the rail collision in Tempi. It also announced a protest rally at Syntagma Square on Thursday at 11:00.

Meanwhile, the employees of the Urban Transport Organisation of Thessaloniki (OASTH) on Tuesday announced their participation in a 24-hour strike declared by the General Confederation of Employees of Greece (GSEE) on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

On the day of the 24-hour strike, 50 buses operated by a skeleton staff will be in circulation, while the routes of the night line of the Airport (N1) and the special service for the disabled will operate as normal.

The workers, as they said in their statement, are asking for those responsible to assume responsibility for the Tempi tragedy, as well as modern, safe and cheap public transport, the immediate hiring of drivers and mechanics and an immediate purchase of new buses.
