Unknown armed men gunned down a Shia man from Hazara community in Dasht area of Mastung district of Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan late Sunday.
In another incident, unidentified gunmen attacked a bus carrying Shia Muslims and injured 11 passengers, including three women and some children, on Tal-Parachinar road in lower Kurram tribal region in northwestern Pakistan.
Militants have killed a large group of Shia Muslims in parts of Kurram Agency over the past three years by targeting their buses. Local sources say more than 2,000 Shia Muslims have been killed in the Kurram region since 2007.
Hundreds of Shia Muslims have also been killed in various parts of the violence-hit country over the past few months.
Human rights groups have vehemently criticized the Pakistani government for its failure to stem the rising tide of violence against the country’s Shia Muslims.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Shia leaders have called on the government to form a judicial commission to investigate the crimes.
