Mountaineers to reach air crash site in hours: Comdr

IRNA – The rescue mountaineers will arrive at accident site in less than 2 hours, Commander of the Army Ground Forces Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari said.

The mountaineers are equipped for transferring dead bodies, he said. ‘Due to the problems for helicopters, we are trying to set up an air bridge.’

Rescue teams have been dispatched to the site where an Iranian ART plane crashed on Sunday on top of Dena mountain, the Secretary-General of Esfahan Red Crescent Society Mohsen Momeni earlier said.

The teams are investigating the area for transferring the dead bodies to the base of the mountain through air or land, he said.

‘The plane has been broken to different parts; however, finding the black box of the plane is on the agenda,’ he said.

An ATR passenger plane belonging to Aseman Airline crashed close to Semirom, south of Isfahan province, on Sunday when it was flying from Tehran to Yasouj.

All 59 passengers and 6 crew members of the plane are feared dead in the incident.
