For many it is one of the human race’s greatest achievements – but ever since that first ‘giant leap for mankind’ there are some who have questioned whether man really did land on the moon.

Now, though, there’s photographic evidence so powerful that even the most hardened sceptics should be persuaded that we really did touch down on the lunar surface.

Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter (LRO) has taken new photographs of the surface that clearly show astronaut footprints, the lunar rover and spacecraft scorch marks.

  1. ahh that explains it then…. they did go after all because of the release of few grainy photo’s that look like they’re from a bad 1960′s b movie….

the only people who’ve been to the moon are wallace and gromit… i know they did because i’ve seen it on the telly!

THIS COMMING FROM INTEL AGENCIES THAT FABRICATE PICTURES AND VIDEO’S ALL THE TIME

THIS IS NO PROOF AT ALL.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN MADE IN A STUDIO.

This is all very easily explained. There could be 2 moons; the one we can all look at in the distance, and perhaps another one that NASA put people on? Now if you want to believe there is another moon, that’s your choice. I’m not going to call you a looney over it.

Nobody has ever walked on the moon. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get past the Van Allen Belt. THINGS can get past it, and take pictures, but HUMANS cannot. Period. I know of at least two major pieces of proof. The famous photograph of the astronaut and the flag is just one of them: two different shadows going two different directions when there is only ONE light source in space! Also, the video of the light rack falling down on the studio in the middle of the making of the moon “landing”.

But my favorite of all is the kid with the camcorder, asking the astronaut to tell the truth if he really walked on the moon or not. The astronaut couldn’t run away from the kid and in the end tried to punch him for his exposure of the lie……….!!!

Tom, you’re absolutely right. The world is flat and we humans are too stoopid to figure out anything because science is all make believe fairy dust.

  2. How about some REAL closeups? How about sending a rover there like they did to mars to get some up close shots. The cost of one mars mission was about 400 million. Would not doing a modern archeological expedition to document one of the greatest achievements of our lifetime be worth about a buck a piece? Look at the other shit we spend money on. Maybe we could not start another war and pay for it that way.

I would like to see closeups before I die.

    LOL

  4. unbelievable.

The last few weeks I was seeing more and more posts about how we didn’t go to the moon, which I don’t believe we did either.

And all of a sudden, NASA has some pics to show that oh yes we did, loooookkkieee here, theres the footprints lmao.

How much more gullible do people have to be. Obviously nothing will ever change cuz the got the proof. They got cameras on the sun too, that are flame and heat proof. oh yeah, and pics of the hubble telescope. Where the astronauts actually went out into space, to change the electronic boards on the telescope, even though the stupid thing is supposed to be way out in space beyond our reach.

unfukinbelievable theatrics that sheep lap up day after day. They still can’t tell a movie from reality.

Move on, nothing to see here as usual.

The only thing mythbusters did not attempt to disprove is how could the deadly radiation from the Van Allen belts to the moon and back be blocked without any lead or radiation protection in the space vessels or space suits.

That would have been the most important to test.

    I posted this reply, but it is waiting moderation. Last time it took several days, so I am attaching my post once again;

lsda.jsc.nasa.gov / books / apollo / S2ch3. – put htm at the end, close spaces between slashes

The problem of protecting astronauts against the radiation found within the Van Allen belts was recognized before the advent of manned space flight. These two bands of trapped radiation, discovered during the Explorer I flight in 1958, consist principally of protons and high-energy electrons, a significant part of which were, at that time, debris from high-altitude tests of nuclear weapons. The simple solution to protection is to remain under the belts [below an altitude of approximately 556 km (300 nautical miles)] when in Earth orbit, and to traverse the belts rapidly on the way to outer space. In reality, the problem is somewhat more complex. The radiation belts vary in altitude over various parts of the Earth and are absent over the north and south magnetic poles. A particularly significant portion of the Van Allen belts is a region known as the South Atlantic anomaly (figure 1). Over the South Atlantic region, the geomagnetic field draws particles closer to the Earth than in other regions of the globe. The orbit inclination of a spacecraft determines the number of passes made per day through this region and, thus, the radiation dose.
Radiation was not an operational problem during the Apollo Program. Doses received by the crewmen of Apollo missions 7 through 17 were small because no major solar-particle events occurred during those missions. One small event was detected by a radiation sensor outside the Apollo 12 spacecraft, but no increase in radiation dose to the crewmen inside the spacecraft was detected. Solar-particle releases are random events, and it is possible that flares, with the accompanying energetic nuclear particles, might hinder future flights beyond the magnetosphere of the Earth.
Radiation protection for the Apollo Program was focused on both the peculiarities of the natural space radiation environment and the increased prevalence of manmade radiation sources on the ground and onboard the spacecraft. Radiation-exposure risks to crewmen were assessed and balanced against mission gain to determine mission constraints. Operational radiation evaluation required specially designed radiation-detection systems onboard the spacecraft in addition to the use of satellite data, solar observatory support, and other liaison. Control and management of radioactive sources and radiation-generating equipment was important in minimizing radiation exposure of ground-support personnel, researchers, and the Apollo flight and backup crewmen.

  8. They certainly don’t help their case when they make movies like this. If they’re trying to make their case, why would they do it using CGI?? Notice at the 27 second mark they go in for a dramatic shot of the LRO circling the moon and taking pictures, which is obviously a computer animated shot.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty certain that we have gone to the moon… but still, why use CGI in a video that’s attempting to prove that we really did go to the moon? If they really wanted to quiet discontent they could release the negatives, put them in a museum somewhere..

  9. Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter is a new instrument used for detailing the moon. Of course with the new data on tap, the most easy thing to look at is human’s footprint on the surface. The video is not specifically created for you conspiracy buffoons, the author of the news article is a hack and misleads you in believing so. He uses a video released by NASA which is simply trying to extrapolate man’s tracks and objects left behind with a mash up of video sources. Go to NASA’s website and start doing some research, there is plenty of sources where you can see tracks and objects including the laser reflector as pinged by the boys on Mythbusters.

NASA: The most precise and complete topographic maps to date of the moon’s complex, heavily cratered landscape have been created from the more than 4 billion measurements — and still counting — taken by LRO’s Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA). These maps are more accurate and sample more places on the lunar surface than any available before. In fact, LOLA has taken more than 100 times more measurements than all previous lunar instruments of its kind combined, opening up a world of possibilities for future exploration and for science.
