President Obama still is pressing Congress to pass his jobs stimulus bill immediately, but his own party leaders in the Senate, where Democrats have a majority, have pushed that vote off yet again.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, said Monday night that when the Senate returns from a weeklong vacation, the chamber will work instead on a bill that would push to label China a currency manipulator, which would make retaliatory steps in order.

“I don’t think there’s anything more important for a jobs measure than China trade,” Mr. Reid said.

Late Monday, before he closed down the Senate, Mr. Reid locked in an early test vote for when senators return next week.

Mr. Obama two weeks ago sent Congress legislation he said would create jobs by extending and expanding temporary tax cuts and boosting infrastructure spending, which he offset by increasing taxes over the long term.

  1. Obama’s jobs plan isn’t top priority for Reid

There is only one “jobs plan” for these scum bags. Shipping our jobs overseas is what they mean. Thats their “jobs plan”.

    Bravo2……out

  2. Oh, the China currency bill has a higher priority than the Messiah’s jobs bill? How nice! Congratulations, Harry! Bulletin! Alert the Mainstream Media! Harry Reid has just noticed that China has been manipulating its currency to gain an unfair advantage over its trading partners. Talk about old news! The fact that China has its currency, the rimimbi (or is it the yuan (yawn); I can never remember. Oh, it’s both. That’s pretty stupid. How is it they can have two words for the same money (is that like dollar and buck? Or is it more like one is Mandarin and the other is Cantonese?)) by artificially pegging it at a rate of 17 to the dollar became known during the Clinton administration. Instead of allowing the Chinese currency (whatever you call it) to float against the dollar, pegging it has the effect of making Chinese goods artificially cheaper on world markets, allowing them to flood the world with their exports. (Little rough on Chinese factory workers, but who gives a shit about them. Not Wall Mart executives, who were over there a couple of years ago telling the Chinese government they were overpaying the workers, and to hold the line on wages because it was cutting into Wall Mart’s profit margins). What would have been a lot better would have been if Congress would have taken action against the Chinese 10 or 15 years ago; then the U.S. might still have a few factory jobs left.

  3. Yes, it is those evil Chinese that are the problem, not the fact AMERICAN CORPORATIONS KEEP OFFSHORING JOBS. Let’s ignore that and just whine about currency manipulation.

The depressing thing about this is that the sheeple will see what he says and believe it rather than see the real problem. After all that is the American way to just blame everyone else.
