"I and my Father are one,[31] Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. JOHN 10:30-31

For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you suffered the same things from your own compatriots as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out; they displease God and oppose everyone by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they have constantly been filling up the measure of their sins; but God’s wrath has overtaken them at last. - Thessalonians 2:14-16

[8] And he said unto me, From Abraham unto Isaac, when Jacob and Esau were born of him, Jacob's hand held first the heel of Esau. [9] For Esau is the end of the world, and Jacob is the beginning of it that followeth. Jews are ESAU EDOM. - 2 Esdras 6:8-18

Man arrested in Florida over ‘Defacing Monument’ with Tire Burnout on LGBT flag, but how about BLM Statue Demolishing?

Home » Injustice, North America, Suppression » Man arrested in Florida over ‘Defacing Monument’ with Tire Burnout on LGBT flag, but how about BLM Statue Demolishing?

A Florida man has been slapped with felony charges for leaving tire tracks across an intersection painted in the rainbow colors of the LGBT pride movement. LGBT activists cheered the police for throwing the book at the suspect.

Alexander Jerich, 20, turned himself in to police in Delray Beach, Florida, on Thursday. Jerich was seen on Monday allegedly pulling onto the intersection in a pickup truck and spinning his rear tires for around 15 seconds, leaving black streaks across the rainbow stripes and sending clouds of smoke into the air.

Jerich was taken to Palm Beach County Jail. Local media reported that he was charged with criminal mischief over $1,000, reckless driving, and evidence of prejudice, the latter of which elevated the charges against him from misdemeanor to felony.

Local LGBT activists piled on Jerich. The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council told local media that they “requested the charges include defacing a memorial – a recently enacted law which would require this crime to be treated as a felony. If convicted of this offense, the perpetrator would be responsible for reimbursing the City of Delray Beach for the cost of repairing the damages in addition to the severe penalties for committing a felony.”

Ironically, Jerich may be charged under Florida’s ‘Combating Public Disorder Law,’ which makes it a third-degree felony if someone “willfully and maliciously defaces, injures, or otherwise damages by any means a memorial or historic property.” The law was signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in April, and cheered by conservatives who opposed leftist rioters’ destruction of statues and memorials during nationwide ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests.

Palm Beach rights group founder Rand Hoch told WPTV that while the law may have been passed to protect Confederate war memorials, the LGBT intersection meets the law’s requirements for protection.

In some parts of North America, LGBT crosswalks and intersections are treated almost as sacred symbols. When a motorist pulled off a little too quickly over a rainbow-painted crosswalk in Vancouver, Canada, last summer, police treated the incident as a “hate gesture” and launched a manhunt for the driver. It’s unclear whether the driver left tire tracks behind him intentionally, but either way, critics ridiculed the police and those responsible for placing murals on the street. “Hear me out on this… maybe don’t put symbols of Pride where it’ll be run over hundreds of times per day,” one commenter quipped at the time.

Jerich’s burnout certainly appeared to be deliberate, but he wouldn’t be the first disgruntled citizen to take his anger out on a piece of woke street art. When New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio had giant ‘Black Lives Matter’ lettering painted onto Fifth Avenue last year, police officers had to be assigned to protect the mural around the clock, after vandals repeatedly spilled paint over it. As officers complained about being ordered to “babysit paint,” shootings and homicides in the city soared to alarming heights.

Such a messed up in the head country America is turning out to be. So this lone guy is getting struck with all kinds of charges over doing a tire burnout on a stupid paint on the asphalt, that stupid paint gets called “memorial” but when gangs of BLM and Antifa terrorists demolished statues which are ACTUAL MEMORIALS, nothing happened.

Remember this and remember who did it too and remember the “authorities” who didn’t do any justice because someday we will have have justice but until then all you can do is watch in pain as things you love get destroyed and things which you despise, you can’t do anything against.

Ancient Necropolis Found Hidden in 17th Century Croatian Palace Garden

An ancient necropolis dating to the 4th and 5th centuries AD has been discovered at a 17th-century palace on the idyllic  Croatian island of Hvar. This Hvar necropolis is being called “the most important ever” in the island’s thousands of years of inhabitation.

Located in the  Adriatic Sea , Hvar is best known today as a summer holiday resort. However, it has been part of a long history having been continuously inhabited since early Neolithic times. In the 8th century BC Illyrians settled the island and in 385 BC Greek colonists founded Dimos (presently Hvar) and Pharos (Stari Grad). In 219 BC the island was taken over by Rome, while Slavs fleeing the mainland in the 7th century AD settled on the island.

Today, sunburnt history lovers wander the port town of Hvar taking in its impressive 13th-century walls. The hilltop fortress overlooks a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. Earlier this month archaeological consulting company Kantharos announced the discovery of an ancient “ necropolis containing 20 graves with the remains of 32 individuals and a wealth of goods, including intact amphorae, oil lamps, glass bottles, money, and examples of  pottery and ceramics.” The haul at the Hvar necropolis is being called “the most important in the island’s history.”

Could Hvar Necropolis Really be the Island’s Most Important Discovery?

Kantharos archaeologists have spent the past two months excavating the area in preparation for a new island  library. During this work they found the ancient necropolis beneath the front garden  Radošević Palace  that was erected by the Radošević-Radossio family in the 17th-century. The area was later taken over by the family de Lupis and Doimi, and with its openings, low balconies, and the overhanging terrace, the north façade is representative of the famous Baroque style.

Archaeologists from Kantharos said in a  Facebook post that the discovery of the necropolis is “the most important and richest site ever discovered in Hvar.” This is quite a claim considering the port was a hub of ancient Greeks and Romans, and it was also used as a Medieval Venetian shipping port as well as a naval base for the Venetian Empire until 1776 AD.

The team of archaeologists included Eduard Visković, Joško Barbarić, Marko Bibić, and Jure Tudor, who worked with Tina Neuhauser Vitaljic, Marine Ugarković, and Joseph Barack Perica, and it was this same group that discovered 5th century ramparts with a city gate, and a stone wall dating back to the 2nd century AD.

A range of different burial styles were also uncovered at the Hvar necropolis. (Kantharos)

Range of Burial Styles at Croatian Necropolis

The team of excavators found evidence of a range of different  burial styles at the Hvar necropolis, from simple stone box graves to elaborately built structures with tiled roofs. A report in  Smithsonian says that in one tomb the researchers discovered 12 skeletons. Furthermore, this particular burial vault was completely walled in with stonework which suggests its patrons were considerably wealthy, or resourceful.

What’s more, the remains and grave goods were interred and sealed inside large  amphorae, evidence of adherence to burial rituals and rites that have until now been a tightly locked historical secret. The team researchers say much more analysis of the remains is required to provide details on the specific  funerary customs  from the 2nd to the 5th centuries AD and they plan to conduct  radiocarbon dating  on the various layers of remains found at the  Croatianisland to add details to what is emerging to be a fascinating snapshot from the past.

Once this excavation is complete the archaeologists think they will have learned much more about two specific aspects of the island’s rich, but relatively unknown history. Firstly, the number of clay vessels found in the  Hvarnecropolis will reveal “new insights into ceramic production.” Secondly, the wide range of ritualistic grave goods will allow the researchers to better illustrate their ever strengthening map of the  Croatian island’s ancient trade connections with surrounding islands and distant shippers.

Hungary Passed Law Banning Showing Children LGBTQ Propaganda & Cracked Down on Pedophilia

Hungary’s National Assembly has passed a law that bans showing children under the age of 18 material related to homosexuality or transgenderism in education, on television, movies or in advertisements.

by Paul Joseph Watson

hungary passed law banning showing children material on homosexuality or transgenderism

The vote passed earlier today by a huge margin of 157-1.

“The law was included in a larger bill cracking down on pedophilia by creating a register of child sex offenders, implementing stricter punishments for child pornography, and barring pedophile offenders from jobs where they would encounter children. It also singled out the promotion of LGBT affairs in schools,” reports RT.

According to a statement by ruling party Fidesz, the law ensures that sex education in schools “must not be aimed” at “promoting homosexuality” or “changing gender.”

Television shows, movies and advertisement are all also banned from showing any content deemed to be promoting homosexuality or transgenderism.

After left-wing lobby groups opposed the law, protesters took to the streets of Budapest to demonstrate against the law.

However, their sentiments are not shared by the population, which voted overwhelmingly for right-wing Fidesz when the party was re-elected in 2018.

Hungary is one of few European countries that actively tries to protect its family-oriented and Christian heritage by moving to stop children being exposed to harmful information and lifestyles.

George Soros is one of the several billionaires funding the Transgender Agenda. Orbán has had this to say about George Soros: He is ‘the Most Corrupt Man In The World’. He Is An “Economic Criminal’ Who ‘Ruined The Lives Of Millions Of People’. Indeed, Soros is one of the most evil people on Earth, funding some of the most damaging agendas, from Color ‘riots, to abortion, transgenderism, LGBTQ, and the organised invasion of Europe by illegal migrants from third world countries.

The country’s populist Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has cultivated support for his efforts to defend the sanctity of the family in the face of rampant progressivism in other European countries.

Last December, Hungary passed a constitutional amendment affirming the right of children to identify with their birth gender and defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

Asserting that Europe’s native population decline represented a “sickness,” Orbán also oversaw a program to offer significant financial incentives for the country’s own native citizens to have children, handing out €30,600 loans to married couples who have three or more children which are completely forgiven after the birth of the third child.

While major institutions in the United Kingdom and U.S. embassies all over the world now fly the LGBT flag above their buildings, a rainbow-colored statue erected in Budapest by leftist activists in honor of Black Lives Matter was demolished within 24 hours.

Last week, Orbán also defended Hungarian football fans who booed Irish players ‘taking a knee’ for BLM, asserting that the gesture was a “provocation” based on white guilt over slavery and that Hungary would not be partaking in the virtue signalling act.

Mother From Soviet Union Exposes the Bolshevik Agenda of “Anti-Racism” at School Board Meeting

This woman has experience first hand where “social justice” and “equity” really lead, and it is not anywhere we want to be.

link

Good evening everyone. I am a mother of three children in district. And I am very concerned. The proposed “Anti-racist program” is just a prettier name for racial Marxist teaching. You don’t need to sugar coat it for me. I lived it. Same methods , same vocabulary, same preferential treatment to certain groups. That’s why equity is packed with good causes like diversity and inclusion, so nobody can challenge it. But I know.

Ask me how I know?

I was born in Soviet Union and my family has seen it all. Suffering first from Nazi and then from tyrannical Soviet Ideology. Back there, what started with Equity for All – quickly ended with Nothing to Eat for my people. And now my family is here because of it, because equity doesn’t work . We did not come here for a blanketed synthetic equity – we had enough of that one, we came here for Equal opportunity under the Law and freedoms in this country.

Soviets extinguished all the excellence and opportunity. They told us they were advocates for equity and enemies of privilege, people believed and we paid the awful price. this ideology killed millions of people worldwide. And now you bringing it here to indoctrinate our children. Equity was just a tool used by communists to make sure everyone was equally poorly educated, so people didn’t question authority. While in definition it was about fairness, In reality it means same outcome – nobody excels, mind-boggling sameness. The key tactic is to remove all the incentive and motivation to succeed for all the students.

Is this why Student Committee proposing less homework and audit of AP classes? Why are you trying to demotivate students and lower the standards instead of directly helping underperforming students? that’s exactly what equity means in reality, making everyone mediocre.

Yesterday I got a letter from school. The Marxist Equity mentioned 14 times. I have a message for everyone here, this is not a Bolshevik Central Schoold District in Soviet Union, this is Bedford Central School District in the United States of America. I was born in Siberia, I had to switch the continents because of equity, I can and I will switch a school district if the equity gets pushed , but I will never switch on American Dream and equal opportunity for my chilldren, the very unique, which uplifts, gives second chances to people like me, motivates, and brings the best in the people regardless race and ethnicity and we have to protect it. I know because I ve seen the other side, im here to warn you it’s not pretty.

  • Settler-attacks: 450 vines and 46 olive trees destroyed in Bethlehem and Nablus
  • IOF established 25 temporary military checkpoints in the West Bank and arrested 10 Palestinian civilians on said checkpoints

Summary

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued to commit crimes and multi-layered violations against Palestinian civilians and their properties, including raids into Palestinian cities that are characterized with excessive use of force, assault, abuse and attacks on civilians that are mostly conducted after midnight and in the early morning hours. This week, IOF killed 7 Palestinians, including 2 children and 2 women who were killed near military checkpoints, as IOF continues to adopt its “shoot to kill” policy, particularly near checkpoints and areas with military presence. Since the beginning of this year, PCHR documented the killing of 12 Palestinians, including 3 women and a child, on Israeli military checkpoints and other areas with military presence, mostly for alleged stab-attacks without the presence of a meaningful threat to soldiers’ lives.

IOF continued its raids into Palestinian cities that are characterized with excessive use of force, assault, abuse, and attacks on civilians; while occupied East Jerusalem witnessed the largest share of IOF attacks with recurrent settler-raids, the organization of the March of the Flags which included wide-scale attacks on Palestinian civilians and the arrest of dozens. Also IOF maintained its demolition and razing activities against Palestinians’ properties and settlers launched attacks on Palestinians and their properties. IOF maintained its collective punishment policy on the Gaza Strip, keeping both Beit Hanoun and Karm Abu Salem crossings shut, with limited operation for conditional exceptional cases.

IOF shooting and violation of right to bodily integrity:

7 Palestinians were killed in Nablus in IOF excessive use of lethal force in the West Bank, including 2 women, 2 children, and 2 members of Palestinian security services. In Gaza, a Palestinian man died of wounds sustained in the IOF military aggression on Gaza. Also, 19 Palestinians were wounded, including 4 children in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, 3 were wounded in Jenin, and one of them was arrested, another was wounded in Silwad, Ramallah; 3 sustained wounds in IOF attacks on a peaceful protest in Kafr Qaddum, Qalqilya, including a child; 6 were wounded in IOF suppression of peaceful protests in Jabal Sbaih, including 3 children. Another man was wounded in Jerusalem, and another critically wounded before his arrest in Jericho. In the Gaza Strip, 4 Palestinians were wounded in eastern Khan Younis. Dozens suffocated due to tear gas inhalation, fired by IOF in its attacks in the West Bank.

IOF incursions and arrests of Palestinian civilians: IOF carried out 101 incursions into the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. Those incursions included raids of civilian houses and shootings, enticing fear among civilians, and attacking many of them. During this week’s incursions, 127 Palestinians were arrested, including 11 children, 4 women, and 2 wounded persons.

In the Gaza Strip, IOF conducted a limited incursion into eastern Rafah; and arrested 3 Palestinians, including 2 children, after crossing the border fence during a protest in eastern Khan Younis.

Demolitions:

PCHR fieldworkers documented 3 violations:

  • East Jerusalem: agricultural room and lands razed in Isawiya.
  • Ramallah: 3 residential tents, and a sheep barn (with 180 livestock), dismantled and confiscated; IOF also confiscated a water tank and 3 solar panels in Ramun.
  • Nablus: 3 commercial facilities demolished (tin-plate roof and made of bricks).

Settler-attacks: PCHR fieldworkers reported and documented 2 attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian civilians and their properties:

  • Bethlehem: 450 vines destroyed in al-Khader with poisonous pesticides.
  • Nablus: 46 olive trees damaged and destroyed in Burin.

Israeli closure policy and restrictions on freedom of movement:

The Israeli authorities continued to impose collective punishments against the people of the Gaza Strip by closing Karm Abu Salem and Beit Hanoun “Erez” Crossings (with partial operation). IOF closed both crossings at the beginning of its military aggression on Gaza on 10 May 2021, and partially opened them for a few days after a ceasefire was declared on 22 May 2021.  This comes in a time where The Gaza Strip still suffers the worst closure in the history of the Israeli occupation of the oPt as it has entered the 14th consecutive year, without any improvement to the movement of persons and goods, humanitarian conditions and bearing catastrophic consequences on all aspects of life.

Meanwhile, IOF continued to divide the West Bank into separate cantons with key roads blocked by the Israeli occupation since the Second Intifada and with temporary and permanent checkpoints, where civilian movement is restricted, and they are subject to arrest.

  I. Shooting and other Violations of the Right to Life and Bodily Integrity

  • On Thursday dawn, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) shot dead 3 Palestinians, including 2 security officer and the third was an Islamic Jihad operative, while 2 others were injured; one was a security officer, and the other was an operative who was arrested after his injury. According to PCHR’s investigations, at approximately 01:30 on Thursday, 10 June 2021, an Israeli Special Force sneaked into Jenin-Nazareth Street, north of Jenin, and stationed near the Palestinian Intelligence Headquarter on the street.  The Israeli Special Force opened fire at a Palestinian vehicle, where 2 persons were inside near the headquarters.  Fire exchanged between the Israeli Special Force and Palestinian Intelligence officers, who were on duty and went out to deal with the shooting near their security headquarter.  As a result, 2 Intelligence officers were killed and a third one was injured.  The officers killed were identified as: lieutenant Adham Yasser Tawfiq ‘Aleiwi (33), from al-Makhfiyeh neighborhood in Nablus, who was shot with a bullet in the head, and Taysir Mahmoud ‘Othman ‘Issa (33), from Sanour village, southeast of Jenin, who was shot with a bullet in the back.  Also, their colleague Mohammed Samer Mneizel al-Bzour (23), a captain from al-Matalah area in Jenin, was wounded with bullets in the chest and abdomen and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Dr. Khalil Soliman Governmental Hospital due to his serious condition.  Few minutes later, Israeli military backups arrived via al-Jalamah checkpoint and secured the withdrawal of the Special Force.  They also took the vehicle that was shot in the beginning as well as the persons who were targeted inside.  Later, IOF declared that one of the persons killed was Jamil Basem Ibrahim ‘Amouri (24) and his body was kept in custody while the other, who was injured, was identified as Wissam Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Zaid (23) and was arrested and taken to an unknown destination.  Both were Islamic Jihad operatives.

According to the Israeli “Yedioth Ahronoth” Newspaper, IOF’s initial investigation said that an undercover force from the Yamam Border Police counterterrorism unit surrounded 2 persons inside a vehicle in Jenin to arrest them, claiming the latter wanted to carry out a shooting attack in the coming days.  Meanwhile, one of them tried to escape on feet while the other tried to escape in the vehicle; thus, the Israeli Force opened fire at them, wounding them both.  The Newspaper added that Jamil al-‘Amouri died on the spot while his colleague Wissam was injured and then arrested by the Israeli Force.  IOF claimed they found military equipment, including a bulletproof vest, ammunition, and a weapon.

According to the same newspaper, the Israeli Forces did not coordinate the raid with the Palestinian Security and once the Force wanted to withdraw from the scene, it was exposed to heavy gunfire that was apparently from 3 Palestinian security officers, who did not recognize the Israeli force.   The newspaper added that the Israeli force responded with fire and killed 2 of the officers and seriously injured a third one.

  • At approximately 10:00, coinciding with holding a court session to consider the eviction of Baten al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan village in favor of settlement associations, IOF arrested 3 Palestinians while suppressing a protest organized in solidarity with Ghaith and Abu Nab families in front of the Israeli District Court on Salah al-Deen Street, in the center of occupied East Jerusalem.

Zuhair al-Rajbi, head of Baten al-Hawa village’s committee, said that IOF suppressed a protest organized in front of the Israeli District Court and beat Palestinian protestors and activists. He added that IOF arrested Basel Doweek, ‘Adel al-Selwadi and Nizam Abu Romuz while participating in the protest and took them to a detention facility in the city. Al-Rajbi pointed out that the Israeli District Court’s judges decided to refer Salem Ghaith and Jawad Abu Nab’s cases to the legal Adviser to the Israeli government, Avichai Mandelblit, and delay the consideration of these cases until 08 July 2021. It should be noted that Israeli associations claimed the ownership of Jews from Yemen over a plot of land (5 dunums and 200 square meters) in Baten al-Hawa neighborhood. Additionally, 86 families of 1300 members are under the threat of forced displacement from their houses established on this plot of land.

  • At approximately 16:00, IOF suppressed a peaceful protest organized by dozens of Palestinian young men in Bab al-‘Amoud area in central occupied East Jerusalem, protesting at raiding Bab al-‘Amoud area by the Israeli Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir, who raised the Israeli flag under the IOF’s intense protection. During the protest, IOF fired rubber bullets and teargas canisters at the protestors and severely beat them. Also, IOF arrested 30 Palestinians, including a child, and took them to al-Bareed Police Center on Salah al-Deen Street.

It should be noted that Ben Gvir called Israeli settlers to organize the March of Flags, which passes through Arabs villages in occupied East Jerusalem towards al-Boraq (Wailing Wall), and to raid al-Aqsa Mosque in response to cancel the protest earlier. Accordingly, Palestinian young men called for confronting the settlers’ raids in Bab al-‘Amoud area, organizing a peaceful protest and raising Palestinian flags. When the Israeli Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir arrived at Bab al-‘Amoud area, Palestinian protestors raised Palestinian flags and chanted national slogans. IOF immediately suppressed them, beat them, fired sound bombs and rubber bullets at them, and pumped wastewater at them to vacate the area completely and secure Ben Gvir along with a group of settlers while present in the area. When Israeli settlers stormed Bab al-‘Amoud area, they cursed Palestinian young men and deliberately obstructed journalists’ work by putting their hats in front of their cameras. Moreover, IOF, who provided full protection for settlers, detained a number of Palestinian protestors in control rooms established at the entrances to Bab al-‘Amoud area, severely beat them and pepper-sprayed them.  Lawyer Feras al-Jebraini said that IOF arrested at least 20 Palestinians from Bab al-‘Amoud area. He clarified that that the detainees were transferred to Salah al-Deen Street police station, and then to the “Nabi Yacoub and Oz” centers for interrogation. He pointed out that many detainees were accused of assaulting the police officer, Special Forces and an Israeli settler, in addition to participating in the clashes erupted in the area. Al-Jebraini added that a number of detainees sustained wounds in their faces and chest and received treatment later. He also said that the detainees were identified as ‘Amer Bader, ‘Abed al-Rahman al-Bukhari, Laith Abu Kaf, Na’iem al-Natsha, Sameer Sarhan, Loai al-Rajbi, Eyad Abu Subeih, Qasem al-Desi, Mohammed al-Fakhouri, Loai al-Qare’, Mahmoud Muhssain, Mahmoud al-Kaswani, Thair Qara’een, Bashar Shoki, Khaled al-Salimah, ‘Abdullah Jaber, Raied al-Sayyad, and Ramzi Mansour.

  • At approximately 22:00 on Thursday, IOF backed by two military vehicles moved into Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, and stationed near UNRWA school. They deployed in the area and fired teargas canisters at Palestinian young men gathered on a public street, under the pretext of throwing stones at them. As a result, some of the young men suffocated due to teargas inhalation. Later, IOF withdrew, and no arrests were reported.
  • At approximately 12:00 on Friday, 11 June 2021, a peaceful protest took off from the central of Silwad village, northeast of Ramallah, towards the eastern entrance to the village, against the detention of Palestinians’ corpses. The protestors raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against the occupation. When the protestors arrived at the village’s eastern entrance, IOF stationed on street “60”, which is located near “Ofra“ settlement in eastern Ramallah, fired live and rubber bullets, sound bombs and teargas canisters at them. Afterwards, violent clashes erupted between them. As a result, a 22-year-old male was shot with a rubber bullet in his head and taken to Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah. Also, dozens of protestors suffocated due to teargas inhalation and received treatment on the spot.
  • At approximately 13:00, IOF stationed at the northern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village, north of Qalqilya, suppressed a protest organized by dozens of Palestinians. IOF chased Palestinians, clashed them, and fired rubber bullets, sound bombs and teargas canisters at them. As a result, an 8-year-old child was shot with a rubber bullet in his foot and a 30-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds, causing laceration in his thigh.
  • On Friday, in a new crime of excessive use of lethal force by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF), a Palestinian child was killed, and 5 others were injured, including 2 children, during the suppression of a peaceful protest against settlement expansion in Beita village, southeast of Nablus, north of the West Bank.

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 13:00 on Friday, 11 June 2021, and for the 6th consecutive week, a peaceful protest took off from central Beita village, southeast of Nablus, towards Subeih Mount, south of the village, where IOF established “Evyatar” settlement outpost a month ago. The protestors raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against the Israeli occupation and settlers. When the protestors arrived at Subeih Mount, where a large number of IOF stationed, the latter indiscriminately opened fire at the protestors. Afterwards, violent clashes erupted, during which, the protestors threw stones at IOF who responded with live and rubber bullets, stun grenades and teargas canisters. The clashes continued until 17:30.  As a result, a Palestinian teenager namely Mohammed Sa’ied Mohammed Hamayil (16), from Beita village, was shot dead with a live bullet, which penetrated his right armpit and then his chest and exited his left arm. Hamayil drew his last breath in the emergency department at Rafidia Governmental Hospital. Moreover, 5 other Palestinians, including 2 children, were injured. The march was organized upon an approval from the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, Omer Bar-Lev, noting that the march was postponed on 10 May 2021, due to the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip and firing rockets towards occupied East Jerusalem by Palestinian armed groups. IOF intensified the number of soldiers whether in civilian clothes or in military uniform, reinforced the rapid intervention units, deployed more than 2500 police officers in the area, placed iron barriers at Bab al-‘Amoud entrance, at all the Old City gates and on the main streets such as al-Sultan Suliman and Salah al-Deen Streets.

The West Bank:

In addition to 108 permanent checkpoints and closed roads, this week witnessed the establishment of 25 temporary checkpoints that restrict the movement of goods and individuals, where IOF searched Palestinians’ vehicles, checked their IDs and arrested 10 of them. IOF closed many roads with cement cubes, metal detector gates and sand berms and tightened their measures against individuals’ movement at military permanent checkpoints.

Nablus:

  • On Thursday, 10 June 2021, IOF established a checkpoint at the entrance to Awarta village, southeast of the city.
  • On Saturday, 12 June 2021, IOF established a checkpoint at the entrance to Beita village, southeast of the city.

Hebron:

  • On Thursday, 10 June 2021, IOF established 2 checkpoints at the entrances to Idhna and Beit Ummar villages.
  • On Friday, 11 June 2021, IOF established 5 checkpoints on Abu Risha Road, east of Idhna village; at the entrance to Sa’ir village; on Beit Einun Road; at the southern entrance to Hebron; and at the entrance to Ash-Shuyukh village.
  • On Saturday, 12 June 2021, IOF established 3 checkpoints at the northern entrance to Halhul city, and at the entrances to Sa’ir and Beit Awwa villages.
  • On Sunday, 13 June 2021, IOF established 4 checkpoints at the entrances to Bani Na’im, Sa’ir and Beit Kahil villages, and at the southern entrance to Hebron.
  • On Wednesday, 16 June 2021, IOF established 4 checkpoints at the entrance to Al-Arroub refugee camp, at the southern entrance to Hebron, and at the entrances to Idhna and ad-Dhahiriya villages.

Salfit:

  • On Saturday, 12 June 2021, IOF established 2 checkpoints at the northern entrance to Salfit and at the entrance to Kafr ad-Dik village, west of the city.

Rigsthula – How the Castes of People Were Fathered by a God

By Henry Adams Bellows
From The Poetic Edda [1936]

The Rigsthula is found in neither of the principal codices. The only manuscript containing it is the so-called Codex Wormanius, a manuscript of Snorri’s Prose Edda. The poem appears on the last sheet of this manuscript, which unluckily is incomplete, and thus the end of the poem is lacking. In the Codex Wormanius itself the poem has no title, but a fragmentary parchment included with it calls the poem the Rigsthula. Some late paper manuscripts give it the title of Rigsmol.

The Rigsthula is essentially unlike anything else which editors have agreed to include in the so-called Edda. It is a definitely cultural poem, explaining, on a mythological basis, the origin of the different castes of early society: the thralls, the peasants, and the warriors. From the warriors, finally, springs one who is destined to become a king, and thus the whole poem is a song in praise of the royal estate. This fact in itself would suffice to indicate that the Rigsthula was not composed in Iceland, where for centuries kings were regarded with profound disapproval.

Not only does the Rigsthula praise royalty, but it has many of the earmarks of a poem composed in praise of a particular king. The manuscript breaks off at a most exasperating point, just as the connection between the mythical “Young Kon” (Konr ungr, konungr, “king”; but cf. stanza 44, note) and the monarch in question is about to be established. Owing to the character of the Norse settlements in Iceland, Ireland, and the western islands generally, search for a specific king leads back to either Norway or Denmark; despite the arguments advanced by Edzardi, Vigfusson, Powell, and others, it seems most improbable that such a poem should have been produced elsewhere than on the Continent, the region where Scandinavian royalty most flourished. Finnur Jonsson’s claim for Norway, with Harald the Fair-Haired as the probable king in question, is much less impressive than Mogk’s ingenious demonstration that the poem was in all probability composed in Denmark, in honor of either Gorm the Old or Harald Blue-Tooth. His proof is based chiefly on the evidence provided by stanza 49, and is summarized in the note to that stanza.

The poet, however, was certainly not a Dane, but probably a wandering Norse singer, who may have had a dozen homes, and who clearly had spent much time in some part of the western island world chiefly inhabited by Celts. The extent of Celtic influence on the Eddic poems in general is a matter of sharp dispute. Powell, for example, claims almost all the poems for the “Western Isles,” and attributes nearly all their good qualities to Celtic influence. Without here attempting to enter into the details of the argument, it may be said that the weight of authoritative opinion, while clearly recognizing the marks of Celtic influence in the poems, is against this view; contact between the roving Norsemen of Norway and Iceland and the Celts of Ireland and the “Western Isles,” and particularly the Orkneys, was so extensive as to make the presumption of an actual Celtic home for the poems seem quite unnecessary.

In the case of the Rigsthula the poet unquestionably had not only picked up bits of the Celtic speech (the name Rig itself is almost certainly of Celtic origin, and there are various other Celtic words employed), but also had caught something of the Celtic literary spirit. This explains the cultural nature of the poem, quite foreign to Norse poetry in general. On the other hand, the style as a whole is vigorously Norse, and thus the explanation that the poem was composed by an itinerant Norse poet who had lived for some time in the Celtic islands, and who was on a visit to the court of a Danish king, fits the ascertainable facts exceedingly well. As Christianity was introduced into Denmark around 960, the Rigsthula is not likely to have been composed much after that date, and probably belongs to the first half of the tenth century. Gorm the Old died about the year 935, and was succeeded by Harald Blue-Tooth, who died about 985.

The fourteenth (or late thirteenth) century annotator identifies Rig with Heimdall, but there is nothing in the poem itself, and very little anywhere else, to warrant this, and it seems likely that the poet had Othin, and not Heimdall, in mind, his purpose being to trace the origin of the royal estate to the chief of the gods. The evidence bearing on this identification is briefly summed up in the note on the introductory prose passage, but the question involves complex and baffling problems in mythology, and from very early times the status of Heimdall was unquestionably confusing to the Norse mind.

They tell in old stories that one of the gods, whose name was Heimdall, went on his way along a certain seashore, and came to a dwelling, where he called himself Rig. According to these stories is the following poem:

1. Men say there went | by ways so green
Of old the god, | the aged and wise,
Mighty and strong | did Rig go striding.
.    .    .    .    .        .    .    .    .    .

[Prose. It would be interesting to know how much the annotator meant by the phrase old stories. Was he familiar with the tradition in forms other than that of the poem? If so, his introductory note was scanty, for, outside of identifying Rig as Heimdall, he provides no information not found in the poem. Probably he meant simply to refer to the poem itself as a relic of antiquity, and the identification of Rig as Heimdall may well have been an attempt at constructive criticism of his own. The note was presumably written somewhere about 1300, or even later, and there is no reason for crediting the annotator with any considerable knowledge of mythology. There is little to favor the identification of Rig with Heimdall, the watchman of the gods, beyond a few rather vague passages in the other poems. Thus in Voluspo, I, the Volva asks hearing “from Heimdall’s sons both high and low”; in Grimnismol, 13, there is a very doubtful line which may mean that Heimdall “o’er men holds sway, it is said,” and in “the Short Voluspo” (Hyndluljoth, 40) he is called “the kinsman of men.” On the other hand, everything in the Rigsthula, including the phrase “the aged and wise” in stanza I, and the references to runes in stanzas 36, 44, and 46, fits Othin exceedingly well. It seems probable that the annotator was wrong, and that Rig is Othin, and not Heimdall. Rig: almost certainly based on the Old Irish word for “king,” “ri” or “rig.”

1. No gap is indicated, but editors have generally assumed one. Some editors, however, add line 1 of stanza 2 to stanza 1.]

2. Forward he went | on the midmost way,
He came to a dwelling, | a door on its posts;
In did he fare, | on the floor was a fire,
Two hoary ones | by the hearth there sat,
Ai and Edda, | in olden dress.

3. Rig knew well | wise words to speak,
Soon in the midst | of the room he sat,
And on either side | the others were.

4. A loaf of bread | did Edda bring,
Heavy and thick | and swollen with husks;
Forth on the table | she set the fare,
And broth for the meal | in a bowl there was.
(Calf’s flesh boiled | was the best of the dainties.)

5. Rig knew well | wise words to speak,
Thence did he rise, | made ready to sleep;
Soon in the bed | himself did he lay,
And on either side | the others were.

[2. Most editions make line 5 a part of the stanza, as here, but some indicate it as the sole remnant of one or more stanzas descriptive of Ai and Edda, just as Afi and Amma, Fathir and Mothir, are later described. Ai and Edda: Great-Grandfather and Great-Grandmother; the latter name was responsible for Jakob Grimm’s famous guess at the meaning of the word “Edda” as applied to the whole collection (cf. Introduction).

3. A line may have been lost from this stanza.

4. Line 5 has generally been rejected as spurious.

5. The manuscript has lines 1-2 in inverse order, but marks the word “Rig” as the beginning of a stanza.]

6. Thus was he there | for three nights long,
Then forward he went | on the midmost way,
And so nine months | were soon passed by.

7. A son bore Edda, | with water they sprinkled him,
With a cloth his hair | so black they covered;
Thræll they named him, |     .    .    .    .    .

8. The skin was wrinkled | and rough on his hands,
Knotted his knuckles, |     .    .    .    .    .
Thick his fingers, | and ugly his face,
Twisted his back, | and big his heels.

9. He began to grow, | and to gain in strength,
Soon of his might | good use he made;

[6. The manuscript does not indicate that these lines form a separate stanza, and as only one line and a fragment of another are left of stanza 7, the editions have grouped the lines in all sorts of ways, with, of course, various conjectures as to where lines may have been lost.

7. After line 1 the manuscript has only four words: “cloth,” “black,” “named,” and “Thræll.” No gap is anywhere indicated. Editors have pieced out the passage in various ways. Water, etc.: concerning the custom of sprinkling water on children, which long antedated the introduction of Christianity, cf. Hovamol, 159 and note. Black: dark hair, among the blond Scandinavians, was the mark of a foreigner, hence of a slave. Thræll: Thrall or Slave.

8. In the manuscript line 1 of stanza 9 stands before stanza 8, neither line being capitalized as the beginning of a stanza. I have followed Bugge’s rearrangement. The manuscript indicates no gap in line 2, but nearly all editors have assumed one, Grundtvig supplying “and rough his nails.”

9. The manuscript marks line 2 as the beginning of a stanza.]

With bast he bound, | and burdens carried,
Home bore faggots | the whole day long.

10. One came to their home, | crooked her legs,
Stained were her feet, | and sunburned her arms,
Flat was her nose; | her name was Thir.

11. Soon in the midst | of the room she sat,
By her side there sat | the son of the house;
They whispered both, | and the bed made ready,
Thræll and Thir, | till the day was through.

12. Children they had, | they lived and were happy,
Fjosnir and Klur | they were called, methinks,
Hreim and Kleggi, | Kefsir, Fulnir,
Drumb, Digraldi, | Drott and Leggjaldi,
Lut and Hosvir; | the house they cared for,
Ground they dunged, | and swine they guarded,
Goats they tended, | and turf they dug.

[10. A line may well have dropped out, but the manuscript is too uncertain as to the stanza-divisions to make any guess safe. Crooked: the word in the original is obscure. Stained: literally, “water was on her soles.” Thir: “Serving-Woman.”

12. There is some confusion as to the arrangement of th lines and division into stanzas of 12 and 13. The names mean: Fjosnir, “Cattle-Man”; Klur, “The Coarse”; Hreim, “The Shouter”; Kleggi, “The Horse-Fly”; Kefsir, “Concubine-Keeper”; Fulnir, “The Stinking”; Drumb, “The Log”; Digraldi, “The Fat”; Drott, “The Sluggard”; Leggjaldi, “The Big-Legged”; Lut, “The Bent”; Hosvir, “The Grey.”]

13. Daughters had they, | Drumba and Kumba,
Ökkvinkalfa, | Arinnefla,
Ysja and Ambott, | Eikintjasna,
Totrughypja | and Tronubeina;
And thence has risen | the race of thralls.

14. Forward went Rig, | his road was straight,
To a hall he came, | and a door there hung;
In did he fare, | on the floor was a fire:
Afi and Amma | owned the house.

15. There sat the twain, | and worked at their tasks:
The man hewed wood | for the weaver’s beam;
His beard was trimmed, | o’er his brow a curl,
His clothes fitted close; | in the corner a chest.

16. The woman sat | and the distaff wielded,
At the weaving with arms | outstretched she worked;
On her head was a band, | on her breast a smock;
On her shoulders a kerchief | with clasps there was.

[13. The names mean: Drumba, “The Log”; Kumba, “The Stumpy”; Ökkvinkalfa, “Fat-Legged”; Arinnefla, “Homely Nosed”; Ysja, “The Noisy”; Ambott, “The Servant”; Eikintjasna, “The Oaken Peg” (?); Totrughypja, “Clothed in Rags”; Tronubeina, “Crane-Legged.”

14. In the manuscript line 4 stands after line 4 of stanza 16, but several editors have rearranged the lines, as here. Afi and Amma: Grandfather and Grandmother.

15. There is considerable confusion among the editors as to where this stanza begins and ends.

16. The manuscript marks line 3 as the beginning of a stanza.]

17. Rig knew well | wise words to speak,
Soon in the midst | of the room he sat,
And on either side | the others were.

18. Then took Amma |     .    .    .    .    .
The vessels full | with the fare she set,
Calf’s flesh boiled | was the best of the dainties.

19. Rig knew well | wise words to speak,
He rose from the board, | made ready to sleep;
Soon in the bed | himself did he lay,
And on either side | the others were.

20. Thus was he there | for three nights long,
Then forward he went | on the midmost way,
And so nine months | were soon passed by.

21. A son bore Amma, | with water they sprinkled him,
Karl they named him; | in a cloth she wrapped him,
He was ruddy of face, | and flashing his eyes.

[17. The manuscript jumps from stanza 17, line I, to stanza 19, line 2. Bugge points out that the copyist’s eye was presumably led astray by the fact that 17, I, and 19, I, were identical. Lines 2-3 of 17 are supplied from stanzas 3 and 29.

18. I have followed Bugge’s conjectural construction of the missing stanza, taking lines 2 and 3 from stanzas 31 and 4.

19. The manuscript marks line 2 as the beginning of a stanza.

20. The manuscript omits line 2, supplied by analogy with stanza 6.]

22. He began to grow, | and to gain in strength,
Oxen he ruled, | and plows made ready,
Houses he built, | and barns he fashioned,
Carts he made, | and the plow he managed.

23. Home did they bring | the bride for Karl,
In goatskins clad, | and keys she bore;
Snör was her name, | ‘neath the veil she sat;
A home they made ready, | and rings exchanged,
The bed they decked, | and a dwelling made.

24. Sons they had, | they lived and were happy:
Hal and Dreng, | Holth, Thegn and Smith,
Breith and Bondi, | Bundinskeggi,
Bui and Boddi, | Brattskegg and Segg.

[21. Most editors assume a lacuna, after either line 2 or line 3. Sijmons assumes, on the analogy of stanza 8, that a complete stanza describing Karl (“Yeoman”) has been lost between stanzas 21 and 22.

22. No line Indicated in the manuscript as beginning a stanza. Cart: the word in the original, “kartr,” is one of the clear signs of the Celtic influence noted in the introduction.

23. Bring: the word literally means “drove in a wagon”–a mark of the bride’s social status. Snör: “Daughter-in-Law.” Bugge, followed by several editors, maintains that line 4 was wrongly interpolated here from a missing stanza describing the marriage of Kon.

24. No line indicated in the manuscript as beginning a stanza. The names mean: Hal, “Man”; Dreng, “The Strong”; Holth, “The Holder of Land”; Thegn, “Freeman”; Smith, “Craftsman”; Breith, “The Broad-Shouldered”; Bondi, “Yeoman”; Bundinskeggi, “With Beard Bound” (i.e., not allowed to hang unkempt); Bui, “Dwelling-Owner”; Boddi, “Farm-Holder”; Brattskegg, “With Beard Carried High”; Segg, “Man.”]

25. Daughters they had, | and their names are here:
Snot, Bruth, Svanni, | Svarri, Sprakki,
Fljoth, Sprund and Vif, | Feima, Ristil:
And thence has risen | the yeomen’s race.

26. Thence went Rig, | his road was straight,
A hall he saw, | the doors faced south;
The portal stood wide, | on the posts was a ring,
Then in he fared; | the floor was strewn.

27. Within two gazed | in each other’s eyes,
Fathir and Mothir, | and played with their fingers;
There sat the house-lord, | wound strings for the bow,
Shafts he fashioned, | and bows he shaped.

28. The lady sat, | at her arms she looked,
She smoothed the cloth, | and fitted the sleeves;
Gay was her cap, | on her breast were clasps,
Broad was her train, | of blue was her gown,

[25. No line indicated in the manuscript as beginning a stanza. The names mean: Snot, “Worthy Woman”; Bruth, “Bride”; Svanni, “The Slender”; Svarri, “The Proud”; Sprakki, “The Fair”; Fljoth, “Woman” (?); Sprund, “The Proud”; Vif, “Wife”; Feima, “The Bashful”; Ristil, “The Graceful.”

26. Many editors make a stanza out of line 4 and lines 1-2 of the following stanza. Strewn: with fresh straw in preparation for a feast; cf. Thrymskvitha, 22.

27. Fathir and Mothir: Father and Mother. Perhaps lines 3-4 should form a stanza with 28, 1-3.

28. Bugge thinks lines 5-6, like 23, 4, got in here from the lost stanzas describing Kon’s bride and his marriage.]

Her brows were bright, | her breast was shining,
Whiter her neck | than new-fallen snow.

29. Rig knew | well wise words to speak,
Soon in the midst | of the room he sat,
And on either side | the others were.

30. Then Mothir brought | a broidered cloth,
Of linen bright, | and the board she covered;
And then she took | the loaves so thin,
And laid them, white | from the wheat, on the cloth.

31. Then forth she brought | the vessels full,
With silver covered, | and set before them,
Meat all browned, | and well-cooked birds;
In the pitcher was wine, | of plate were the cups,
So drank they and talked | till the day was gone.

32. Rig knew well | wise words to speak,
Soon did he rise, | made ready to sleep;
So in the bed | himself did he lay,
And on either side | the others were.

[31. The manuscript of lines 1-3 is obviously defective, as there are too many words for two lines, and not enough for the full three. The meaning, however, is clearly very much as indicated in the translation. Gering’s emendation, which I have followed, consists simply in shifting “set before them” from the first line to the second–where the manuscript has no verb,–and supplying the verb “brought” in line 1. The various editions contain all sorts of suggestions.

32. The manuscript begins both line 1 and line 2 with a capital [fp. 212] preceded by a period, which has led to all sorts of strange stanza-combinations and guesses at lost lines in the various editions. The confusion includes stanza 33, wherein no line is marked in the manuscript as beginning a stanza.]

33. Thus was he there | for three nights long,
Then forward he went | on the midmost way,
And so nine months | were soon passed by.

34. A son had Mothir, | in silk they wrapped him,
With water they sprinkled him, | Jarl he was;
Blond was his hair, | and bright his cheeks,
Grim as a snake’s | were his glowing eyes.

35. To grow in the house | did Jarl begin,
Shields he brandished, | and bow-strings wound,
Bows he shot, | and shafts he fashioned,
Arrows he loosened, | and lances wielded,
Horses he rode, | and hounds unleashed,
Swords he handled, | and sounds he swam.

36. Straight from the grove | came striding Rig,
Rig came striding, | and runes he taught him;
By his name he called him, | as son he claimed him,

[34. Jarl: “Nobly-Born.”

35. Various lines have been regarded as interpolations, 3 and 6 being most often thus rejected.

36. Lines I, 2, and 5 all begin with capitals preceded by periods, a fact which, taken in conjunction with the obviously defective state of the following stanza, has led to all sorts of conjectural emendations. The exact significance of Rig’s giving his own name to Jarl (cf. stanza 46), and thus recognizing him, potentially at least, as a king, depends on the conditions under [fp. 213] which the poem was composed (cf. Introductory Note). The whole stanza, particularly the reference to the teaching of magic (runes), fits Othin far better than Heimdall.]

And bade him hold | his heritage wide,
His heritage wide, | the ancient homes.

37. .    .    .    .    .        .    .    .    .    .
Forward he rode | through the forest dark,
O’er the frosty crags, | till a hall he found.

38. His spear he shook, | his shield he brandished,
His horse he spurred, | with his sword he hewed;
Wars he raised, | and reddened the field,
Warriors slew he, | and land he won.

39. Eighteen halls | ere long did he hold,
Wealth did he get, | and gave to all,
Stones and jewels | and slim-flanked steeds,
Rings he offered, | and arm-rings shared.

40. His messengers went | by the ways so wet,
And came to the hall | where Hersir dwelt;
His daughter was fair | and slender-fingered,
Erna the wise | the maiden was.

[37. Something–one or two lines, or a longer passage–has clearly been lost, describing the beginning of Jarl’s journey. Yet many editors, relying on the manuscript punctuation, make 37 and 38 into a single stanza.

39. The manuscript marks both lines 1 and 2 as beginning stanzas.

40. Hersir: “Lord”; the hersir was, in the early days before the establishment of a kingdom in Norway, the local chief, and [fp. 214] hence the highest recognized authority. During and after the time of Harald the Fair-Haired the name lost something of its distinction, the hersir coming to take rank below the jarl. Erna: “The Capable.”]

41. Her hand they sought, | and home they brought her,
Wedded to Jarl | the veil she wore;
Together they dwelt, | their joy was great,
Children they had, | and happy they lived.

42. Bur was the eldest, | and Barn the next,
Joth and Athal, | Arfi, Mog,
Nith and Svein, | soon they began-
Sun and Nithjung– | to play and swim;
Kund was one, | and the youngest Kon.

43. Soon grew up | the sons of Jarl,
Beasts they tamed, | and bucklers rounded,
Shafts they fashioned, | and spears they shook.

44. But Kon the Young | learned runes to use,
Runes everlasting, | the runes of life;

[42. The names mean: Bur, “Son”; Barn, “Child”; Joth, “Child”; Athal, “Offspring”; Arfi, “Heir”; Mog, “Son”; Nith, “Descendant”; Svein, “Boy”; Sun, “Son”; Nithjung, “Descend ant”; Kund, “Kinsman”; Kon, “Son” (of noble birth). Concerning the use made of this last name, see note on stanza 44. It is curious that there is no list of the daughters of Jarl and Erna, and accordingly Vigfusson inserts here the names listed in stanza 25. Grundtvig rearranges the lines of stanzas 42 and 43.

44. The manuscript indicates no line as beginning a stanza. Kon the Young: a remarkable bit of fanciful etymology; the [fp. 215] phrase is “Konr ungr,” which could readily be contracted into “Konungr,” the regular word meaning “king.” The “kon” part is actually not far out, but the second syllable of “konungr” has nothing to do with “ungr” meaning “young.” Runes: a long list of just such magic charms, dulling swordblades, quenching flames, and so on, is given in Hovamol, 147-163.]

Soon could he well | the warriors shield,
Dull the swordblade, | and still the seas.

45. Bird-chatter learned he, | flames could he lessen.,
Minds could quiet, | and sorrows calm;
.    .    .    .    .        .    .    .    .    .
The might and strength | of twice four men.

46. With Rig-Jarl soon | the runes he shared,
More crafty he was, | and greater his wisdom;
The right he sought, | and soon he won it,
Rig to be called, | and runes to know.

47. Young Kon rode forth | through forest and grove,
Shafts let loose, | and birds he lured;
There spake a crow | on a bough that sat:
“Why lurest thou, Kon, | the birds to come?

[45. The manuscript indicates no line as beginning a stanza. Minds: possibly “seas,”‘ the word being doubtful. Most editors assume the gap as indicated.

4.6. The manuscript indicates no line as beginning a stanza. Rig-Jarl: Kon’s father; cf. stanza 36.

47. This stanza has often been combined with 48, either as a whole or in part. Crow: birds frequently play the part of mentor in Norse literature; cf., for example, Helgakvitha Hundingsbana I, 5, and Fafnismol, 32.]

48. ” ‘Twere better forth | on thy steed to fare,
.    .    .    .    . | and the host to slay.

49. “The halls of Dan | and Danp are noble,
Greater their wealth | than thou bast gained;
Good are they | at guiding the keel,
Trying of weapons, | and giving of wounds.

[48. This fragment is not indicated as a separate stanza in the manuscript. Perhaps half a line has disappeared, or, as seems more likely, the gap includes two lines and a half. Sijmons actually constructs these lines, largely on the basis of stanzas 35 and 38, Bugge fills in the half-line lacuna as indicated above with “The sword to wield.”

49. Dan and Danp: These names are largely responsible for the theory that the Rigsthula was composed in Denmark. According to the Latin epitome of the Skjöldungasaga by Arngrimur Jonsson, “Rig (Rigus) was a man not the least among the great ones of his time. He married the daughter of a certain Danp, lord of Danpsted, whose name was Dana; and later, having won the royal title for his province, left as his heir his son by Dana, called Dan or Danum, all of whose subjects were called Danes.” This may or may not be conclusive, and it is a great pity that the manuscript breaks off abruptly at this stanza.]

If Bibi Was the Frying Pan, Is Bennett the Fire? What To Expect from Israel’s New PM

By Jessica Buxbaum

Source

“It’s not like [Israel is] replacing Netanyahu with a person who believes in equality for all, who believes in freedom for all, who believes in human rights for all. They’re replacing Netanyahu with an ultra-nationalist who is going to put forward his ultra-nationalist agenda.” – Diana Buttu, former PLO spokesperson

JERUSALEM — After more than a decade, four elections, three corruption charges, and a tumultuous parliamentary vote, someone other than Benjamin Netanyahu was sworn in as Israel’s prime minister this week.

Naftali Bennett, the far-right nationalist who has replaced Netanyahu, heads the most politically diverse coalition in the nation’s history, but his politics are far from progressive.

Who is Naftali Bennett?

Unlike his predecessors, Bennett is more of a novice than a veteran politician. While he has served in several ministerial roles, his government experience is relatively brief.

Bennett began his political career as Netanyahu’s chief of staff in 2005, when the latter served as opposition leader. Prior to his first role in government, he served in the Israeli army as a commando unit officer during Israel’s 1996 offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and was indirectly involved in the Kfar Qana Massacre, in which Israeli artillery fire killed 102 Lebanese civilians at a United Nations facility.

The 49-year-old Bennett was born in Haifa to parents who immigrated to Israel from San Francisco in 1967. Donning a kippah (a cap often worn by Jewish men during rituals), Bennett is Israel’s first religiously observant prime minister.

While not a settler himself, Bennet is seen as an icon of Israel’s settler right. He was appointed director general of the Yesha Council, the political body representing Israeli settlers, in 2009. The following year, he founded the My Israel Movement along with fellow Israeli politician Ayelet Shaked. The Zionist group works to eradicate what it identifies as “anti-Israel activity” online, specifically in relation to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

Bennett became chairman of the religious and right-wing Jewish Home Party in 2012, but left in 2018 to create the New Right Party, which is currently the sole member of his far-right electoral alliance, Yamina (or “to the right” in Hebrew). He was often perceived as standing on the sidelines of politics — an outsider desperately wanting in. Except for his time as education minister, almost every stint as an Israeli minister was short-lived. His contribution to politics has been less action-oriented and more centered on his inflammatory statements.

A history of racist rhetoric

Bennett is notorious for the myriad of controversial remarks he’s made over the years:

  • During a parliamentary debate on releasing Palestinian prisoners, Bennett bragged about “killing Arabs.” “If we capture terrorists, we need to just kill them,” Bennett said in 2013. “I’ve already killed a lot of Arabs in my life, and there is no problem with that.”
  • In 2018, he advocated for a shoot-to-kill policy for Palestinians crossing the Gaza border. When questioned about whether children would be part of this policy, he said, “They are not children — they are terrorists. We are fooling ourselves. I see the photos.”
  • During a televised debate in 2010, Bennett said to Palestinian lawmaker Ahmad Tibi, “When you were still climbing trees, we had a Jewish state here.”
  • In an interview with The New Yorker in 2013, Bennett reiterated his strong opposition to a Palestinian state. “I will do everything in my power, forever, to fight against a Palestinian state being founded in the Land of Israel,” Bennett said.

Bennett has long advocated for full annexation of Israeli-controlled Area C of the Occupied West Bank, which comprises 60% of the West Bank. He said, in 2013:

The most important thing in the Land of Israel is to build, build, build [settlements]… It’s important that there will be an Israeli presence everywhere. Our principal problem is still Israel’s leaders’ unwillingness to say in a simple manner that the Land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel.  “

In 2014, Bennett referred to Israeli annexation of the West Bank, telling reporters Israel “will be gradually attempting to apply Israeli law on Israeli controlled areas of Judea and Samaria [the occupied West Bank].”

And more recently, in February of this year, he said in an interview, “As long as I have any power and control, I won’t hand over one centimeter of the Land of Israel. Period.”

While Diana Buttu, a Palestinian analyst and former spokesperson for the Palestine Liberation Organization, is happy Netanyahu is out of office, she doesn’t see the new leader as the right kind of change. “It’s not like [Israel is] replacing Netanyahu with a person who believes in equality for all, who believes in freedom for all, who believes in human rights for all,” Buttu said. “They’re replacing Netanyahu with an ultra-nationalist who is going to put forward his ultra-nationalist agenda.”

Bennett’s possible policies

Bennett’s lack of a governing record makes it difficult to predict what kind of leader he’ll be and what kind of policies he may enact.

Paul Scham, executive director of the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies at the University of Maryland, surmises the new prime minister will tackle mundane but necessary agenda items like passing a budget and solving Israel’s infrastructure crisis.

“He recognizes that this isn’t a time for a bold action on the ideological front,” Scham told MintPress News.

Two hours after Bennett was sworn in as prime minister, President Joe Biden phoned the new leader to congratulate him. By contrast, Biden waited a month after his own swearing-in ceremony to call Netanyahu. Scham suggested such actions hint Bennett may prioritize relations with the United States and remain diplomatic in an effort to undo his predecessor’s damage.

“Since Bibi seemed to have this adverse relationship with [former President Barack] Obama and was very pro-Republican, Bennett will take care not to push the buttons, like denying that a Palestinian state will ever come into existence,” Scham said. On several occasions, Netanyahu has rejected the formation of a Palestinian state under his leadership.

Naftali Bennett protest

On the other hand, Buttu believes Bennett will want to bolster his right-wing credentials in the face of criticism for joining forces with Palestinian and leftist parties. Israel’s new government was formed through a coalition of several conflicting political parties, including Muslim party United Arab List, the far-left Meretz Party, centrist Yesh Atid Party, the Labor Party and Bennett’s Yamina.

Earlier this month, hundreds of right-wing activists demonstrated in front of Shaked’s and other fellow Yamina members’ homes against the far-right coalition teaming up with left-wing parties.

“He’s been saying in statements ‘Now is the time for a national unity government,” Buttu said. “But then to his crowd, he’s saying, ‘Don’t worry, this is a right-wing government.’”

New leader, same agenda

While other Israeli politicians often tone down their rhetoric to fit a global standard, Bennett thrives on unquestionably racist language.

“If anything, Bennett is just that much worse because his ideology is an ideology of extreme racism,” Buttu said. “Whereas when it comes to Netanyahu, he’s learned how to polish up that same ideology.”

Despite a new government coming to power, the politics of settler-colonialism remain the same. In that regard, peace and any chance for Palestinian liberation feel out of reach.

“People are happy Netanyahu is out, and my worry is that because Netanyahu is out and because [Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Yair] Lapid is backing Bennett, there’s going to be a red carpet rolled out for a person who is openly racist,” Buttu said, cautioning that placing Bennett on a pedestal will make the mistake of validating the politician’s perspectives. “Legitimating him inside Israel once again means it’s okay to have a prime minister who is so openly ultra-nationalist and who believes in land theft.”

And with this extremist ideology heading the Israeli government, the recent wave of settler terrorism may become even more emboldened.

Russian Foreign Ministry on No-Summit/Summit, the G7, NATO and Venezuela

By Stephen Lendman

Source

A previous article called talks between Putin and Biden’s double farcical and tragic.

Despite remarks by both sides suggesting otherwise, no improvement in dismal bilateral relations was achieved — nothing suggesting a shift by Biden regime hardliners toward more normalized relations with Russia.

Commenting on Geneva talks, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) said little.

Assessments were made by Russia’s leadership, she said — putting a brave face on a dismal situation with no prospect for improvement.

MZ also drew attention to remarks by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

Posted on Russia’s Foreign Ministry website, he discussed strategic stability and prospects for cooperation with Biden regime hardliners on this issue.

Beyond the above she said Russia’s envoy to the US Anatoly Antonov will likely return to his Washington post next week — no further comments on Geneva talks.

On the June 11-13 G7 summit of Western regime heads preceding Geneva talks, she noted that neither Russia or China is part of the US-dominated club.

Nor are so-called G7 “values” universal, she stressed, far from it.

“G7 leaders are drawing a new dividing line in international affairs,” she noted, adding:

“(T)he divide lies between a small group of (fantasy) democracies and the rest of the world” on major issues.

MZ: “We doubt that this approach is capable of producing stable positive results and is a contributing factor in enhancing the genuine versatility epitomized in the UN and its Charter, including, primarily, the principles of equitable and mutually beneficial cooperation among all countries.”

“(W)e did not see anything new” in its final communique. “It was just as we expected.”

G7 values are confrontational over cooperation with other nations.

Notably, “endless exercises in anti-Russia rhetoric (by its member states) are doing nothing to improve the atmosphere in relations between the West and Russia.”

The same holds for increasingly bashed China by the West.

NATO summitry followed G7 talks. Once again, issues discussed “were expected and predictable,”MZ explained, adding:

“We heard threats to use Article 5 on collective defense in the event of an attack in outer space or cyberspace attacks.”

“We hear about cyberspace regularly.”

“What do…NATO (regimes) expect from attacks in outer space?”

They’ll clearly be none by

Russia or China.

Invented threats by the US-dominated alliance “lowers the threshold for the use of force, worsens the security situation for all countries, and seriously complicates the prospects for reaching universal agreements aimed at preventing the use of outer space and the cyber environment for non-peaceful purposes,” MZ stressed.

As for invented Russian and Chinese threats that don’t exist, “the alliance remains in a ‘reality’ that it made up itself,” she added.

They need invented enemies to unjustifiably justify NATO’s existence.

At a time when no real threats exist against alliance members, no justification exists to maintain it.

Since the 1990s, it’s been a machine for manufacturing of nonexistent enemies to wage war against.

In stark contrast, Russia is a model nation for waging peace, abhorring war, cooperating with other nations, and complying fully with international law.

Claims otherwise by hegemon USA and its imperial partners are bald-faced Big Lies.

Repetition gets most people to believe almost anything, no matter how untrue.

Not only does Washington need enemies to maintain and seek new NATO members, they’re required to unjustifiably justify its monstrously bloated war budget.

MZ knows that “mov(ing) from fictional images to facts” is off-the-table for the US and its imperial partners, adding:

“(H)ow can NATO do without a ‘threat from the East?’ Judging by the outcome of the summit, it can’t…”

Separately, MZ explained that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza on June 22 in Moscow.

Both nations are strategically partnered “based on equitable and mutually beneficial cooperation, friendship and mutual empathy between the two nations,” MZ explained, adding:

Last year, both nations commemorated “the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and this year is the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation.”

Both ministers “will discuss the developments in Venezuela and around it, and a broad range of bilateral issues…”

Both nations foster cooperative relations in full compliance with international law, “including the principles of protecting sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs,” MZ explained.

Unsafe to Fly

By Stephen Lendman

Source

Health Impact News and other websites reported that four British Airways (BA) pilots died after receiving toxic covid jabs.

The airline reportedly is in crisis mode over whether its covid jabbed pilots should be allowed to fly.

Over 80% of its pilots got them.

They have nothing to do with protecting and preserving health — just the opposite.

They’re designed to harm health, shorten lifespans, and kill.

Flying with a pilot and flight crew jabbed for covid risks the lives of passengers.

If unable to perform duties while airborne for health issues, all on board could die.

If most airline pilots and flight crew members have been jabbed for covid in the US, West and elsewhere with Pfizer/Moderna mRNA drugs or J & J/AstraZeneca vaccines, it’s unsafe for air travelers to fly with them.

Unlike ground travel, there’s little room for error when airborne.

If both pilot and co-pilot become incapacitated in flight, everyone onboard may be doomed.

As expected, UK public health authorities denied that BA pilots died from toxic covid jabs.

According to an unidentified friend of a BA pilot, “things are getting crazy” because of four deaths, adding:

One pilot was in his mid-30s, two others in their 40s and 50s with no health issues of concern.

Because of what happened, BA officials “are now in crisis talks with the government about whether to allow (their covid-jabbed) pilots to fly.”

In damage control, Britain’s Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) denied the above, a statement by vigilance and risk management of medicines director Dr. Sarah Banch falsely saying:

“We have not been made aware of deaths of BA pilots after receiving (covid jabs) (sic) and have not had discussions with BA or other airlines about preventing pilots from flying after receiving” them (sic).

“There are currently no restrictions on aviation or other industries and activities post” covid jabbing.

A report by press agent for power Reuters was similar, saying BA is not holding “crisis talks” with UK officials.

Virtually everything establishment media reported about covid since early last year has been false.

They’re part of a US/Western state-sponsored mass deception campaign to convince maximum numbers of unsuspecting people to self-inflict harm.

Deaths of four BA pilots days after being jabbed for covid raises obvious red flags.

Since covid mass-jabbing began last December, millions of people in the US, West and elsewhere have already been harmed.

Based on way-underreported CDC/FDA Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), US deaths from covid jabs so far took more lives in a few short months than fatalities from all vaccines combined over the past 15.5 years.

Officially reported numbers of adverse events and deaths from covid jabs are a small fraction of a far greater toll.

Noted Professor of Medicine Dr. Peter McCullough, minced no words saying the following:

Covid jabs are “bioweapons.”

They’re “far and away the most lethal, toxic, biologic agent ever injected into a human body in American history.”

Hundreds of other medical and scientific experts issued similar warnings.

When taken as directed, covid jabs risk irreversible harm and death near-or-longer-term.

Toxins in jabs risk harm to virtually all body organs.

Close contact by unjabbed individuals with jabbed ones risks harm.

Pfizer documents explained the following:

“Occupational exposure occurs when a person has unplanned direct contact with a (covid jabbed) subject, which may or may not result in the occurrence of an adverse event.”

“These individuals may include health care providers, family members and other people in the subject’s environment.”

In 2018, Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security reported on what some scientists call “self-spreading vaccines (to) dramatically increase coverage” without mass-inoculations.

The idea should terrify everyone aware of hazards posed by all vaccines. None are safe.

If self-spreading ones are developed, vaccine refusniks will be inoculated like jabbed individuals — a frightening prospect.

UK Health Data: Death Rate from COVID Variant is SIX TIMES Higher for Vaccinated than Unvaccinated

Hospitalizations are also higher among thousands of fully vaccinated individuals who test positive for the Delta COVID ‘variant of concern.’

by Celeste McGovern

uk health data death rate from covid variant is six times higher for vaccinated than unvaccinated

The death rate from the Delta COVID variant is six times higher among those who were fully vaccinated for two weeks or longer than among those who never received a shot, according to data published by Public Health England on Friday.

Back in April we reported that a Study From Tel Aviv University: Coronavirus Variant Affects Vaccinated People EIGHT TIMES More Than Unvaccinated. So there’s clearly a pattern here.

Twenty-six people died among 4,087 who were fully vaccinated 14 days or more before testing positive for the Delta COVID variant. This equates to a death rate of 0.00636 percent, which is 6.6 times higher than the rate of 0.000957 deaths – or 34 deaths among 35,521 positive Delta cases among the unvaccinated, according to data published in a June 18 report titled “SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern and variants under investigation in England, Technical briefing 16.”

Both death rates among the unvaccinated and vaccinated are exceedingly low (less than one percent of all positive tests) for a variant that Public Health England describes as the “dominant variant” in the UK, comprising “91 percent of sequenced cases.”

A risk assessment of the Delta variant of the pandemic coronavirus published Friday describes it as being more readily spread between people, but it is also described as a variant with “low infection severity.”

Mainstream media have latched onto the possibility that the Delta variant is producing higher hospitalization rates in parts of Scotland and England than the “first wave” of the Alpha variant, but according to the UK public health report, these data are based on “early evidence” and “limited understanding of the clinical course of the disease.”

Higher hospitalization among vaccinated

Since hospitalizations are of concern, fully vaccinated people are being hospitalized in the UK at a higher rate than unvaccinated people.

According to most recent technical briefing report, public health data show that 2.0 percent of vaccinated individuals (84 of 4,087) who tested positive for the Delta variant were admitted to hospital (including those tested upon entering the hospital for any other reason) compared with 1.48 percent of unvaccinated individuals (527 of 35,521).

The current data is in keeping with data published last week by England’s public health agency that also showed a six-times greater death rate among the fully vaccinated than the unvaccinated and a hospital admission rate of 2.3 percent among those fully vaccinated at least two weeks earlier compared with just 1.2 percent among the unvaccinated.

Antibody-dependent enhancement?

“This is reminiscent of the ADE (antibody dependent enhancement) phenomenon that has been seen for other vaccine and that has been expressed as a point of concern among many scientists for the COVID vaccines,” Stephanie Seneff, a senior researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory told LifeSiteNews.

ADE blighted previous attempts at coronavirus vaccines and frequently resulted in enhanced lung disease among vaccinated lab animals. It led researchers in 2012 to advise scientists to proceed with “caution” for any human coronavirus vaccines which could lead to enhanced lung disease.

Seneff said research has shown that coronavirus vaccines alter the ways immune systems respond to infection and can activate other sleeping infections in the vaccinated person such as herpes virus, creating symptoms of Bell’s palsy or shingles.

“It is conceivable to me that the laser-beam specificity of the induced antibodies is offset by a general weakening of innate immunity,” Seneff said.

“I also suspect that massive vaccination campaigns may accelerate the rate at which the vaccine-resistant mutant strains become dominant among all the SARS-Co-V2 [coronavirus] strains.”

How to Spot a Scorpion in the Night Sky – Bonus: Red Giant Star Antares and the Waxing Gibbous Moon

On summer evenings, you may notice a curved grouping of stars crawling across the southern sky, among them a brilliant red beacon. This is the constellation Scorpius, the scorpion, and beginning in late June, it’s the prime time to look for it. This grouping of stars has been thought of as having the shape of a scorpion going back to ancient times in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. In the Greek myth, the scorpion’s deadly sting brought down the great hunter Orion, and that’s why – the story goes – we find them on opposite sides of the sky today. This pattern of stars also been seen as part of a great dragon, in China, and the fish hook of the demigod Maui in Hawaii. That fish-hook shape also forms the tail of the scorpion. By the end of the month, the scorpion’s tail will be above the horizon after sunset for most stargazers. That bright, beacon-like star in Scorpius is Antares, which is a huge red giant star, and one of the brightest in the sky. It forms the blazing heart of the scorpion. So look toward the south and use Antares as your guide to finding the constellation Scorpius. Tuesday evening, June 22, 2021, the bright star Antares will appear about 5 degrees below the waxing gibbous Moon. Stay Tuned!

Evanston, Illinois Hosting Juneteenth Parade & Gay Pride Parade, Cancelling July 4th Parade & Fireworks

By Chris Menahan

Earlier this week, all GOP senators along with the overwhelming majority of GOP reps in the House voted to make Juneteenth our new “National Independence Day” and mocked those who claimed it would replace Independence Day on July 4th and further divide America.

It took only one day after the bill was signed into law to prove them wrong.

Great job, Republicans!

Another victory for the GOP!

Ghosts in the Landscape: How Did the Village of Gainsthorpe Vanish?

There are many medieval villages in England that have disappeared throughout the years. However, one that remains more visible than most is the village of Gainsthorpe in Lincolnshire. When viewed from above, many elements of the village remain visible, such as the houses, barns and streets through earthworks in an unploughed field. Furthermore, Gainsthorpe was no small hamlet but a significant village, which can be traced from its earliest origins right through to its disappearance in the 17th century.

The Origins of Gainsthorpe

One of the earliest mentions of the village of Gainsthorpe is in the Domesday Book of 1086. This book was a great survey of %20England ordered by William the Conqueror after his conquest of the %20Anglo-Saxons. It sought to record how the land was occupied, by what sort of man and what stock was upon the land. The Domesday book shows how much dues and taxes should be due to the King each year. It is here where Gainsthorpe has its first mention, as the village known as “Gamelstorp”.

It was originally owned in 1066 by a Saxon lord called Ulgar or Wulfgar. This name is associated with 21 other places in the Domesday book, though it should be noted that these may not all be the same person. By 1086, though, the possession of the land had been transferred to a Norman lord, Ivo Tallboys or Taillebois. This perhaps implies that during the taming of England by William, Ulgar/Wulfgar was killed.

The original Great Domesday and Little Domesday books, National Archives, Kew, England (Andrew Barclay /  CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 )

What is important to note is that Ivo Taillebois was an important Norman nobleman in the reign of William the Conqueror, and his successor King William Rufus. He was in command of the Norman army at the siege of Ely in 1071, against English resistance. As a successful Norman lord, Ivo seems to have had his principal powerbase in Lincolnshire, whilst also gaining extensive lands throughout England. This may suggest that Gainsthrope was a reasonably thriving village as far back as 11th century England.

In 1208, Gameslestorp was again listed in a royal document detailing a list of legal land tenure agreements, the extent of which shows that the village had continued to grow. There was a minimum of 19 fields covering 108 acres described in the document, as well as a %20chapel, a windmill and a bridge.

Life in the Village

The manor building in the village was unlikely to have been very grand, despite it being where the wealthiest and most prosperous people of the village would have lived. It had a separate barn for livestock and was mostly constructed of timber in an A-frame construction. This would have been accompanied by a single longitudinal roof beam with walls made of woven branches/reeds combined with mud in the traditional method. Reeds would have been in plentiful supply thanks to the floodplains surrounding the village.

The village people themselves would likely have been of the lower class of citizen, principally laborers and farmers with few people who actually owned their own land. Essentially, they were “serfs” (indentured agricultural workers) who worked the land for the local lord.

<iframe width=”917″ height=”516″ src=”%20https://www.youtube.com/embed/8L8n2o0KPJk” title=”YouTube video player” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen></iframe>

Whilst the cause of decline of the village is unknown, the population of the village was potentially badly affected by the Black Death %20plague that ravaged England in the mid-14th century. The last mention we have of Gainsthorpe is in 1616 when the Duchy of %20Cornwall noted in a survey that “neither tofte, tenement or cottage” was left standing. In 1697, Abraham de la Pryme visited the site of Gainsthorpe in which he recorded the ruins of around 200 buildings. It is some of this that can still be seen today.

The Ruins Today

Much of the deserted village survives today as earthworks in grassed fields, through raised ridges and sunken hollows. From an aerial point of view, there are three/four roads visible as a hollow way through earthen banks on either side of a sunken track.

Nothing remains of the village but impressions on the landscape (Simon Tomson /  CC BY-SA 2.0 )

There are the remains of about 25 buildings that can be seen laid out across 15 enclosures. Each enclosure is likely to have been occupied by a family or workers. There is a mixture of smaller buildings, which were houses, compared to the larger buildings which were likely barns. There are also faint traces of ridges in the North that suggest that the village also had open communal %20farms lying beyond the private enclosures.

Fascinatingly there are also quarry pits potentially dating from the 16th or 17th century that seem to respect the boundaries of these enclosures. This implies that the village may still have been occupied by at least a select few as late as these dates. There also exists an early 19th century farm, that perhaps suggests that the Gainsthorpe was never truly deserted.

So What Happened?

Whilst it will be impossible to make a definite cause on the disappearance of the village, there are some theories that can help explain why it experienced a decline. As previously mentioned, the Black Death of the 14th century may have been a significant issue for the town. The Black Death was a plague that swept across Europe and %20Asia in the 14th century. Arriving on boats, sailors and traded goods spread the %20disease far and wide causing the deaths of up to a third of the population, maybe as much as 25 million people across the world. Large parts of the population in England subsequently died. It is possible that this destabilized the village life in Gainsthorpe.

The Black Death devastated the population of Europe (Moynet /  CC BY 4.0 )

Equally, as the archaeology shows, industry became much more popular throughout the 16th and 17th centuries and there was a shift from rural living to urban living. Gainsthorpe itself is situated near large cities that experienced rapid population growth in the age of industrialization, such as %20Leeds, Sheffield, Lincoln, and Scunthorpe. It may have just been that people moved away from the rural village in order to seek a living in the big bustling cities.

Lost to Time

The village itself can still be seen and reconstructed through the earthworks and ruins that remain. Whilst the village started with such a strong background and grew to a reasonable size, it unfortunately became victim, like many other medieval villages of England, to plague, pestilence and industrialization.

Dr. Peter McCullough – COVID Vaccines Have Already Killed 50,000 Americans, According to Whistleblowers

by Debra Heine

In an extraordinary interview last week, Dr. Peter McCullough, an American professor of Medicine and Vice Chief of Internal Medicine at Baylor University, declared that the world has been subjected to a form of bioterrorism, and that the suppression of early treatments for COVID-19 — such as hydroxychloroquine — “was tightly linked to the development of a vaccine.”

dr. peter mccullough covid vaccines have already killed 50,000 americans, according to whistleblowers

Dr. McCullough made the explosive comments during a webinar on June 11, with  Dr. Reiner Fuellmich, a German trial lawyer, who believes the pandemic was planned, and is “a crime against humanity.”

Nuremberg Trial 2.0 is in Preparation: W.H.O And World Leaders Will Have To Answer For ‘Crimes Against Humanity’.

McCullough said he believes the bioterrorism has come in two stages—the first wave being the rollout of the coronavirus, and the second, the rollout of the dangerous vaccines, which he said may already be responsible for the deaths of up to 50,000 Americans.

Dr. McCullough practices internal medicine and cardiology, is the editor of Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine, senior editor of the American Journal of Cardiology, editor of the textbook Cardiorenal Medicine, and president of the Cardiorenal Society.

“The first wave of the bioterrorism is a respiratory virus that spread across the world, and affected relatively few people — about one percent of many populations — but generated great fear,” McCullough explained during the Oval Media webinar with other doctors. He noted that the virus targeted “mostly the frail and the elderly, but for otherwise well people, it was much like having the common cold.”

Dr. McCullough later elaborated that he has treated many patients with the disease, written papers on it, had the disease himself, and has also seen a death in his own family due to COVID.

The doctor said he believes that fear of the virus was used very quickly to generate policies that would hugely impact human life, such as the draconian lockdowns.

“Every single thing that was done in public health in response to the pandemic made it worse,” he pointed out.

McCullough explained that early on, as a doctor treating COVID patients, he came up with an early treatment regimen for those struck with the virus, which reduced hospital stays by about 85 percent, and said he began publishing papers on what he had learned. The doctor noted that he was “met with resistance at all levels” in terms of actually treating patients and publishing his papers.

“Fortunately I had enough publication strength to publish the only two papers in the entire medical literature that teaches doctors how to treat COVID-19 patients at home to prevent hospitalization,” he said.

“What we have discovered is that the suppression of early treatment was tightly linked to the development of a vaccine, and the entire program — and in a sense, bioterrorism phase one — was rolled out, [and] was really about keeping the population in fear, and in isolation preparing them to accept the vaccine, which appears to be phase two of a bioterrorism operation.”

McCullough explained that both the coronavirus and the vaccines deliver “to the human body, the spike protein, [which is] the gain of function target of this bioterrorism research.”

He acknowledged that he couldn’t come out and say all that on national television because the medical establishment has done such a thorough job of propagandizing the issue.

“What we have learned over time is that we could no longer communicate with government agencies. We actually couldn’t communicate with our propagandized colleagues in major medical centers, all of which appear to be under a spell, almost as if they’ve been hypnotized.”

“Good doctors are doing unthinkable things like injecting biologically active messenger RNA that produces this pathogenic spike protein into pregnant women. I think when these doctors wake up from their trance, they’re going to be shocked to think what they’ve done to people,” he said, echoing what he, and Dr. Harvey Risch, professor at the Yale School of Public Health, told Fox News host Laura Ingraham during an interview last month.

McCullough told Fuellmich that last summer, he started an early treatment initiative to keep COVID patients out of the hospital, which involved organizing multiple groups of medical doctors in the United States and abroad.

The doctor noted that some governments tried to block these doctors from providing the treatments, but with the help of the Association of Physicians and Surgeons, they were able to put out a home patient guide, and in the U.S., organized four different tele-medical services, and fifteen regional tele-medical services.

This way, people who were stricken with COVID-19, were able to call in to these services and get the medications they needed prescribed to local pharmacies, or mail order distribution pharmacies, he explained.

“Without the government really even understanding what was going on, we crushed the epidemic curve of the United States,” McCullough claimed.

“Toward the end of December and January, we basically took care of the pandemic with about 500 doctors and telemedicine services, and to this day, we treat about 25 percent of the U.S. COVID-19 population that are actually at high risk, over age 50 with medical problems that present with severe symptoms.”

The doctor said that his belief that the suppression of early treatment was “tightly linked” to the vaccines, is what that led him to focus his attention on warning the public about the vaccines.

“We know that this is phase two of bioterrorism, we don’t know who’s behind it, but we know that they want a needle in every arm to inject messenger RNA, or adenoviral DNA into every human being,” he said. “They want every human being.”

The doctor later warned that the experimental vaccines could ultimately lead to cancers, and sterilize young women.

Dr. McCullough said his goal is to set apart a large group of people that the system can not get to, which would include those who have already had the virus, those with immunity, children, pregnant women, and child-bearing women.

The cardiologist went on to say that because there is no clinical benefit in young people whatsoever to get the vaccine, even one case of myocarditis or pericarditis following the shots “is too many,” yet even though the CDC is aware of hundreds of alarming reports of cases of heart swelling in teenagers and young adults, they’re only going to reevaluate the matter later on in June. He accused the medical establishment of neglecting to to do anything to reduce the risks of the vaccines.

As someone who has chaired over two dozen vaccine safety monitoring boards for the FDA, and National Institute for Health, McCullough had room to criticize how the vaccines have been rolled out.

“With this program, there is no critical event committee, there is no data-safety monitoring board, and there’s no human ethics committee. Those structures are mandatory for all large clinical investigations, and so the word that’s really used for what’s going on is malfeasance, that’s wrongdoing of people in authority,” the doctor explained.

“Without any safety measures in place, you can see what’s going on,” he continued.

“Basically it’s the largest application of a biological product with the greatest amount of morbidity and mortality in the history of our country.”

“We are at over 5,000 deaths so far, as you know, and I think about 15,000 hospitalizations. In the EU it’s over 10,000 deaths. We are working with the Center for Medicaid (CMS) data, and we have a pretty good lead that the real number is tenfold.”

McCullough explained that because the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database only amounts to about 10 percent of the bad reactions to the vaccines, his team has had to go to other sources for information.

“We have now a whistleblower inside the CMS, and we have two whistleblowers in the CDC,” the doctor revealed. “We think we have 50,000 dead Americans. Fifty thousand deaths. So we actually have more deaths due to the vaccine per day than certainly the viral illness by far. It’s basically propagandized bioterrorism by injection.”

Dr. McCullough said he’s seen people in his office with cases of portal vein thrombosis, myocarditis, and serious memory problems post-vaccination. “It’s so disconcerting,” he said.

He said he was recently viciously attacked in the media by a woman from Singapore who is linked to the Gates Foundation.

Dr. McCullough went on to express a chilling theory that the vaccines could have been designed to reduce the world’s population.

“If you said this is all a Gates Foundation program to reduce the population, it’s fitting very well with that hypothesis, right? The first wave was to kill the old people by the respiratory infection, the second wave is to take the survivors and target the young people and sterilize them,” he said.

“If you notice the messaging in the country, in the United States, they’re not even interested in old people now. They want the kids. They want the kids, kids, kids, kids kids! They’re such a focus on the kids,” he said, noting that in Toronto, Canada, last month, they lured the children with promises of ice-cream to get the jab.

According to one report, the government of Ontario — which doesn’t require parental consent for children to get vaccinated — encouraged the kids to get the Pfizer vaccine at a pop-up vaccine event.

“They held the parents back, and they were vaccinating the kids,” the doctor railed. He said his Canadian wife’s mother was forcibly vaccinated against her will.

McCullough predicted that the United States is gearing up to force people into getting the injections.

“We have to stop it, and we have to see what’s behind it,” he concluded.

A “Red Brigade” Sleight-Of-Hand Protest During The G7 Meeting In Cornwall

What is called a protest against world leader policies during the G7 meeting held at the Carbis Bay Hotel in Cornwall, England, is far more likely a sleight-of-hand distraction and occult ceremony put on by these very same world leaders.  If you have been paying attention, the “plandemic” op has been and is being merged with the climate change/global warming op. Both the “plandemic” and climate change ops seek to eliminate personal freedom, reduce personal wealth, and eliminate vast numbers of the world population (especially among White nations). You may also have noticed the number of references to “Nazism” among critics has gone up exponentially while at the same time most critics are cowed into silence about the real threat of jewish supremacism.

The following quotes and photos are taken from a 12 June 2021 NEWSDONS.COM article “Extinction Rebellion’s ‘Red Brigade’ march through Falmouth and demonstrators occupy a McDonald’s.”

“Extinction Rebellion’s ‘Red Brigade’ marched through Falmouth and demonstrators occupied a McDonald’s as they called for action on climate change in a G7 protest today.

The group’s co-founder Dr Gail Bradbrook was among those who took part in the march that included figures wearing lifelike papier mache masks of the world leaders at the Cornwall summit.

More than 1,000 protestors dressed as the grim reaper, suffragettes and others hidden beneath the costume of a Chinese dragon made their way from Kimberley Park though the centre of the seaside town.

Seven figures dressed as the G7 leaders led the march with the Boris Johnson character enthusiastically copying his hand movements.

The Red Rebel Brigade, who walk silently with their hands upturned, followed. Six people carried a giant globe through the streets as protestors handed out leaflets to locals who had stood on the pavement to watch.

It comes on day two of the G7 summit which will see leaders discuss building resilience to future crises, consider foreign policy and then decide on their response to Covid-19.

The only sign of disruption came with a splinter group called Animal Rebellion who occupied a McDonald’s branch on the outskirts of the town. Police stood watch as the protestors, mostly teenage girls, occupied all the tables and prevented families from eating inside at the fast food restaurant.

The protestors, who were all vegan [vegan or not I wouldn’t call what McDonald’s serves as food], demanded that the chain switch from serving meat hamburgers to plant based ones.

It follows demonstrators setting sail on a flotilla of paddleboards, boats and kayaks earlier today as they gathered in the shallow waters off Gyllyngvase Beach to protest the destruction of oceans by polluting nations.

Most of those taking part were from Cornwall but others have travelled from Devon and the west country…”

“…Among those taking part in the march were several NHS doctors. Andrew Stevenson, who works at a hospital in Somerset, said: ‘The climate emergency is a health emergency and has to be tackled.

And Angie Nicholas, also a doctor in Somerset, believes the pandemic is linked to the climate emergency, saying: ‘People have to sit up and take notice. The pandemic has its roots in climate change.’…

…Others in costume included protestors dressed as blackbirds, seven women in funeral black pushing white wheelchairs bearing the slogan ‘Climate change kills children.’ [but forcing children to wear masks, isolate themselves and take experimental pharmaceutical injections does not I guess]…

…The Surfers Against Sewage group have called on the G7 leaders to regulate ocean pollution and ban the destructive extraction of ocean resources…

…One of the banners listed football clubs that the XR protestors said would disappear by the year 2050 due to rising water levels because of climate change.

Among those listed were Premier League teams Chelsea and Fulham as their stadium is close to the River Thames.

Hull City, Portsmouth and Blackpool from League One were also listed as being at risk from rising sea levels due to climate change. ‘All the clubs on the banner will cease to exist unless climate change is tackled,’ said one of the protesters.”

I have to question if this was a legitimate protest or part of the global agenda hidden behind an artifice (a mask) of outrage. They protest the use of carbon-based fuel. They protest the consumption of all meat. They protest that nothing is being done to stop climate change and conflate disease with climate change. Such concocted demonstrations actually benefit what the heads of the G7 are planning while being clothed in the guise of legitimate protest. Every sane person supports having a cleaner, better world, but asking these G7 monsters to come up with solutions is like bargaining with the devil.

These leaders are working toward UN agendas to reduce the “carbon footprint” of the world population (not for them of course) and implement oppressive carbon taxes. They are creating world food shortages by disrupting supply chains and buying up vast tracks of farmland (to most likely keep fallow). They are pushing fake meat, insects and even cannibalism as food replacements. They have stripped the wealth of countless people through their “plandemic” small business shutdowns while restricting the rights of people to move about and gather together. It is no coincidence that recent supposed “foreign” cyber-attacks in the US have hit fuel supplies and meat production. They push electric powered transportation while at the same time shut down power plants needed to charge the batteries of such vehicles, knowing that wind and solar cannot take up the slack. Their experimental injections may lead to large global depopulation, after all we are carbon-based lifeforms.

What is missing is the protest against loss of personal freedom, property ownership, wealth creation and not considering or allowing grass roots solutions for world problems. Most of these protesters are likely brainwashed useful idiots, but when members of the NHS are involved and ritualistic costumed ceremonies take place there is something far more dark and controlled behind it all. And, when the symbol of their organization is two triangles that when merged together form the symbol of the jewish supremacists behind it all, I smell manipulation by tribal rats.

BREAKING: Canada’s Federal Court Rules Mandatory Quarantine Hotels Are ‘Constitutional’

Nevertheless, the court raised concerns about a pastor’s rights being violated when she was confined to a quarantine hotel against her will.

by Anthony Murdoch

breaking canada’s federal court rules mandatory quarantine hotels are ‘constitutional’

Canada’s federal court has ruled that quarantine hotels imposed by the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau since January — and for which travelers must pay — are constitutional.

The court, however, also ruled that a pastor’s rights were violated when she was confined to a quarantine hotel against her will.

Chief Justice of the Federal Court Paul Crampton issued the ruling today in response to four separate legal challenges with 14 applicants against the mandatory quarantine hotels.

“The impugned measures were within the authority of the AIC [Governor in Council, in this context know as the Administrator in Council] and were within the jurisdiction of the federal government.

“Finally, the impugned measures do not contravene section 1(a) of the Bill of Rights. Accordingly, these Applications will be dismissed,” concluded Crampton.

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) was part of the lawsuit against the federal government and represented 10 clients.

One of its clients included Pastor Nicole Mathis. The JCCF said she “was forced against her will” into a “federal quarantine facility and detained for three nights” because her negative COVID-19 test was not accepted by Canadian Public Health officials.

The JCCF noted it was pleased that the court found that Mathis’ rights were “unjustifiably infringed by authorities” because she was not informed of her right to counsel “upon detention,” and that her family was not informed where she was being taken to.

Crampton concluded:

“Those violations of Ms. Mathis’ rights cannot be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society. The evidence establishes that the first of those violations has since been remedied by the requirement that travelers who are required to stay in a GAA must book their own reservation there.”

The JCCF said it is “disappointed with the Federal Court ruling” and that the decision “will be reviewed thoroughly with a view to appeal.”

“Never in post Charter history have law-abiding Canadians been detained en masse against their will, with no regard for the fundamental freedoms this country was founded on,” said JCCF lawyer and Litigation Director Jay Cameron.

“The Federal Court’s finding that these heavy-handed measures are constitutional is deeply concerning. Canadians continue to wait anxiously for the courts of the land to draw boundaries around the increasingly authoritarian measures of government regarding Covid. We are reviewing the decision carefully.”

The JCCF had argued that “mandatory quarantine of law-abiding Canadian citizens in federally mandated facilities violated their rights to enter and leave Canada freely pursuant to their rights under S. 6(1) of the Charter.”

“It violated their rights not to be arbitrarily detained, their right to speak to counsel upon their detention and their rights to be presumed innocent until proven guilty and the right to have their detention contested in court,” noted the JCCF.

In early January, the Canadian federal government enacted new rules which required all air travelers coming into Canada to present a negative PCR or LAMP COVID-19 test to their airline before being allowed to board their flight.

In late January, the government announced that “all air travellers … with very limited exceptions” would have to submit to a mandatory hotel quarantine for at least three nights while waiting for test results from a mandatory COVID-19 test given upon arrival.

Before arrival in Canada, passengers must reserve online and pay for a spot at a government-approved hotel. If a negative test result comes in during the three-day stay, a person is then permitted to leave the hotel, but is told to quarantine at home for 14 days.

Only four airports in Canada — Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal — currently service international flights.

The government recently increased the fines for those who do not comply with the quarantine rules from $3,000 to $5,000.

Canada’s Health Minister Patty Hajdu recently confirmed that, starting in early July, Canadians who have had the full two doses of a COVID-19 shot do not have to quarantine for 14 days, as long as they produce a negative test.

Trudeau recently said he was looking to ease border restrictions, but only for those who had been “fully vaccinated.”

Today, the Trudeau government decided to extend Canada’s border closure with the United States until July 21. The current closure agreement was set to expire on June 21.

How Republicans Became the ‘Barstool’ Party

A half-decade ago, the originally Boston-based site and its rabid fan community wouldn’t have scanned as “political” at all. But now, its proudly Neanderthal, reactionary ethos aligns perfectly with the side of our political binary that Trump reconfigured: the one whose common denominator is a tooth-and-nail, middle-finger unwillingness to accept liberal social norms.

If you looked at Portnoy circa 2010 — a budding bro-entrepreneur, popping champagne with models in cheesy photo shoots — you’d have to squint pretty hard to see a potential Republican standard-bearer. If you look now, it’s hard not to. It’s commonplace by now to observe that the Trump presidency “changed everything” for Republicans, from conventional wisdom on policy to how their internal politics are conducted. But first and foremost, it changed the face the party presented to the world. Where onetime nominees like Mitt Romney and John McCain tried and failed to subordinate cultural grievance to a more professionalized, inclusive style of politics, Trump succeeded by placing it right on the front of the tin. And when he casually dismantled that old fusion of free-market economic fervor and country-club traditionalism, Barstool was ready.

The rise of the “Barstool Republican,” to coin a phenotype, doesn’t necessarily explain Trump. It is, however, a useful way to understand what’s happened to American politics without constantly invoking the former president’s name. Portnoy’s devotees aren’t MAGA fanatics or Q fans who live to torment liberals, and they’re certainly not part of the GOP’s evangelical base. (One could imagine the last thing they’d want is a Supreme Court that strikes down Roe.) But the Barstool Republican now largely defines the Republican coalition because of his willingness to dispense with his party’s conventional policy wisdom on anything — the social safety net, drug laws, abortion access — as long as it means one thing: he doesn’t have to vote for some snooty Democrat, and, by proxy, the caste of lousy deans that props up the left’s politically-correct cultural regime.

The backlash to liberal domination of pop culture and the past decade’s transformation of speech norms created the Barstool Republican long before Portnoy’s name was bandied about in jest as a political candidate. And if you’ve been paying attention, their cultural revolution dates back to a time when such antics were more likely to get you kicked out of Mar-a-Lago than installed as its lifelong “El Presidente.”

***

Lost in the annals of a time when culture wars weren’t quite as central to our national politics is a nomenclature that now seems almost quaint: the so-called “South Park Republican.”

As far back as 2001, the gadfly conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan was using the term to describe members of his political tribe who shared the anti-P.C., socially libertarian views of “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Stone and Parker, true to form, loudly protested their hatred of both major parties. Still, the label stuck, inspiring sparring New York Times columns and even a book-length exploration of the concept by conservative writer Brian C. Anderson.

In the political climate of the mid-2000s, the concept’s appeal was obvious: As Gen X-ers and younger Baby Boomers entered the ranks of the political elite, it made sense that they would dispense with the blue-blooded stuffiness and social conservatism of the Reagan-Bush imperium in favor of a vaguely countercultural, post-Sixties tolerance. W traded his father’s country-club affect for a pair of cowboy boots, but he wasn’t fooling anyone: The cultural energy in the Republican Party, to the extent that it had any, was in its feather-ruffling libertarian wing, whose influence would soon reach its zenith with the self-proclaimed Ron Paul Revolution. But like so many would-be revolutions, this one was denied — or at least delayed and mutated.

Paul’s 2012 bid to become the Republican Party’s presidential standard-bearer fizzled out in spectacular fashion, failing to convert internet hype into any meaningful primary support. Romney won the nomination and invited the youthful Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan along for the ride (whose rad workout gear and politically inscrutable love of Rage Against the Machine, alas, failed to inspire a Romney-Ryan youth movement).

Crashing on the rocks of both Barack Obama’s megawatt cultural celebrity and the looming coronation of Jeb Bush as the post-“autopsy” face of the GOP, the Rude Republican cohort was at loose ends — until an unlikely salvation came in the form of a 6’3” reality show host and frequent Howard Stern guest descending his golden escalator into the first paragraph of 21st-century American history.

Trump was at first an uneasy fit for both the more culturally-sophisticated, libertarian-leaning members of the Republican coalition as well as their staid religious counterparts. But at the same time he was hotwiring Republican culture and pushing it to the limits of street-legality, anti-P.C. critics saw another revolution happening within liberal politics — and, by the transitive property, pop culture writ large. In their eyes, Hillary Clinton’s campaign represented the triumph of a pro-establishment cultural nanny state that rejected Obama’s attempted de-escalation of the culture wars in favor of a rigid new etiquette of social justice: A rainbow flag hoisted, in effect, over the Bushes’ Kennebunkport compound.

One of Trump’s early adopters articulated the mindset perfectly in August 2015, back when Jeb! was still his closest primary threat: “I am voting for Donald Trump. I don’t care if he’s a joke. I don’t care if he’s racist. I don’t care if he’s sexist. I don’t care about any of it. I hope he stays in the race and I hope he wins. Why? Because I love the fact that he is making other politicians squirm. I love the fact he says shit nobody else will say, regardless of how ridiculous it is.”

No points for guessing the author: Dave Portnoy, birthing the Barstool Republican with a single 200-word blog post. Trump transformed the political landscape by tapping into a powerful desire for freedom from criticism or censure — a desire that Portnoy shared, and which has only grown more intense and widespread as the panopticon of social media becomes the primary stage for not just national politics, but civic life at every level.

In a column this February for The Week, the Catholic social conservative writer Matthew Walther referred to “Barstool conservatives” as primarily sharing a “disdain for the language of liberal improvement, the hectoring, schoolmarmish attitude of Democratic politicians and their allies in the media, and, above all, the elevation of risk-aversion to the level of a first-order principle by our professional classes.” In other words: culture-war issues.

Oddly enough, despite the inherent thirst for conflict that it brings, the ascent of Barstool-ism within the Republican Party can be chalked up to ideological diversity within the GOP. What could unite free-market libertarians, revanchist Catholics, Southern evangelicals, and working-class Reagan Democrats but their shared hatred of… actual Democrats?

With that as the party’s guiding principle, and no clear policy agenda to speak of — the 2020 RNC literally did not have a new policy platform — those willing to trash the Democratic cultural regime most loudly and consistently are firmly in command, with more staid Republicans forced to at least provide cover, if not actively follow their cues.

They’re forced to defend freshman North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn in the face of his attention-seeking tweets and allegations of sexual harassment from his (very recent) college days, while he ranks in the top 10 members of Congress in missed votes. They’re forced to defend Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz as he faces his own allegations of sexual impropriety — not to mention his frat-boy antics, like showing up to Congress in a gas mask in the earliest days of the coronavirus pandemic. They’re forced to defend Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert as she fends off complaints from constituents about her “embarrassing” freshman term in Congress, after winning a primary and general election largely on the strength of her, well, bar ownership.

So just as anti-P.C., vaguely amoral Barstool-ism can be a strength, it can also be a weakness. In a media environment built to reinforce and intensify one’s ideological beliefs, being on the attack all the time can leave you in an exhausting state of constant defense. Yes, it can galvanize — nearly 75 million people voted to re-elect Donald Trump, the Stoolie-in-chief — but it can also exasperate and infuriate in turn — a record 81 million Americans voted for Trump’s purposely less-pugilistic opponent, Joe Biden. It also runs the risk of all novelty: that people might just bore of it. Yesterday’s provocation becomes today’s status quo, and in turn tomorrow’s epic cringe.

When Republican voters made Trump their presidential nominee in 2016, they chose gloves-off culture war over either Jeb Bush’s earnest compromise or the imitations of a careerist provocateur like Sen. Ted Cruz. Trump tapped into a very real dissatisfaction in the American electorate with the liberal status quo around speech and culture, and reaped both the attendant rewards and backlash. Someone like Dave Portnoy is, if not a viable presidential candidate, at least a credible successor to the role of the office’s last Republican occupant: Trump, Gaetz, Boebert, Cawthorn and their ilk all share Portnoy’s single-minded obsession with scoring headlines and affirming their constituents’ cultural identities at any cost.

In a media-obsessed world, it’s a powerful, intoxicating skill. And now that it’s proven a viable pathway to electoral success, Republicans are — perhaps wisely — clinging to it for dear life. As a creation of Judd Apatow, the 21st century’s great dorm-room comedy auteur, once said: “Pandora doesn’t go back in the box, he only comes out.”

Exports of dried fruits, nuts up 36% in 2 months yr/yr – Tehran%20Times

TEHRAN – The value of the Iranian exports of dried fruits, nuts and seeds in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-May 21) increased by 36 percent compared to the same period last year, a senior official at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) said.

According to Mahmoud Bazari, director-general of TPO’s Export Coordination Office for agro crops and processing industry products, 96,000 tons of the mentioned products worth $212 million were exported to foreign destinations in the mentioned two months.

Despite the limitations created by the coronavirus pandemic and the U.S. sanctions, the exports of the mentioned products also increased by 25 percent in terms of weight in the said period, Bazari said.

As reported by IRIB, pistachio had the biggest share in the export basket of the said products, accounting for $122 million of the total exports.

The official noted that some 18,000 tons of pistachios were exported in the period under review, registering 43 percent and 50 percent increase in terms of value and weight, respectively.

According to Bazari, China, United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Afghanistan were the top destinations for the mentioned commodities during the said time span.

The export of dates during the first two months of this year also reached 48,000 tons worth $42 million, which shows an increase of 12 percent in terms of value and 13 percent in terms of weight compared to the same period last year, the official stated.

Some 27,000 tons of raisins valued at $35 million were also exported in the mentioned two months, to register 12 percent and 13 percent increases in terms of value and weight, respectively.

TPO is constantly monitoring and determining new destination markets for Iranian non-oil products and with the increase in the number of Iran’s trade partners, the exports of the country’s foodstuff and agricultural products, which are of high quality, is increasing every year.

TEHRAN – Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) and the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in studying gas hydrate resources in the Oman Sea, Shana reported.

The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) had awarded the project for the study of Oman Sea gas hydrate resources to RIPI back in the Iranian calendar year 1397 (started in March 2018).

RIPI was supposed to work on the project in collaboration with NIOC’s Exploration Department in an executive four-year program.

The mentioned project has been defined in 11 different sections, in two of which the institute is going to cooperate with the National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science.

Speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, IRIP Head Jafar Tofiqi underlined the significance of the cooperation between the two institutes and said: “This cooperation is very valuable because it is for a major national project in terms of technical knowledge and I am optimistic that with the cooperation of the two research institutes we can implement this project well.”

“Considering the energy capacities of the country on land and sea, fortunately, exploration projects are among the important programs of the Oil Ministry,” Tofiqi said, adding: “This project is of special importance for the NIOC exploration Department as the employer, so it is necessary to use the knowledge and executive capacities of both parties to be able to complete the project successfully.”

Field studies, research for boosting the recovery factor of oil and gas reservoirs, drilling-related research projects, and several other exploration projects are among the projects that are being pursued and carried out by the RIPI, the official said.

RIPI was initially established under the title of the “Iran Petroleum Industry Research Development Office” in 1959. Its primary aim was to carry out research on the application of petroleum materials.

The main strategy of PIRI is creating value-added via the development and indigenization of new technologies used in the oil industry.

Russian ambassador returns to Washington following Biden-Putin summit

Russia’s envoy to the United States flew to Washington on Sunday after presidents Joe Bien and Vladimir Putin agreed to return previously expelled ambassadors to their posts at a summit in Geneva this week.

Anatoly Antonov had been recalled to Moscow for consultations in March amid tensions between Russia and the US.

The diplomat’s flight took off at 09:20 local time (06:20 GMT) from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport to New York before connecting to Washington, Russian news agencies reported.

“Given the results of the meeting between the two presidents, I am counting on constructive work with my American colleagues to build relations on an equal and pragmatic footing,” Antonov told Ria Novosti news agency.

US Ambassador in Moscow John Sullivan, who left Moscow in April, also announced he would be back in the Russian capital “soon.”

“After an important summit, I look forward to returning to Moscow soon,” he said, according to the spokesman of the US embassy in Russia.

He cited “strategic stability, human rights, a stable and predictable relationship with Russia” as his axes of work.

Diplomatic relations between Moscow and Washington deteriorated rapidly after Biden took office in January. The American President accused Russia of serial cyberattacks and electoral interference in the US.

In March, Russia recalled Antonov after Biden labelled Putin as a “killer” in an explosive interview.

Sullivan announced a month later that he would return to Washington for consultations.

Tensions appeared to ease as Biden met his Russian counterpart in Geneva on Wednesday. Biden said the tone was “good” and “positive”, while Putin called the encounter “constructive”.

Besides their agreement to return their chief diplomats to Moscow and Washington, the two leaders decided working on a plan to solidify their countries’ last remaining treaty limiting nuclear weapons.

But the summit also highlighted deep differences on human rights, cyberattacks, election interference and more.

Over $2.3b of facilities paid to SMEs, semi-finished projects in 2 months

Over $2.3b of facilities paid to SMEs, semi-finished projects in 2 months – Tehran%20Times

TEHRAN – Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade’s data show that 99.161 trillion rials (about $2.36 billion) has been paid to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and semi-finished industrial projects with an over 60 percent physical progress during the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-May 21).

The mentioned facilities, which are provided for renewing machinery, equipping production units, or completing semi-finished projects, have been paid in the form of bank loans to 1,512 projects and production units, IRNA reported.

The program for offering bank facilities to the SMEs and semi-finished projects was kicked off in February 2019 by the Industry Ministry in collaboration with the Central Bank of Iran, and since then over 7,660 production units and SMEs have registered for receiving the mentioned loans of which 2,766 cases have received the facilities.

Based on the mentioned program, 201.299 trillion rials of facilities (about $4.79 billion) were paid to SMEs and semi-finished projects to support domestic production and maintain or create job opportunities in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

CBI has defined supporting production as one of its major plans over the past two years.

Former CBI Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati has repeatedly stressed that supporting production units to flourish production is the priority of the country’s banking system.

In early May 2019, Hemmati had outlined CBI plans for neutralizing or relieving the impact of U.S. sanctions on the country’s economy and mentioned providing liquidity and working capital to maintain and boost domestic production as one of those plans.

CBI’s plans take two major approaches, one of which is to secure finance for production activities and also to provide the working capital needed for such activities.

LA Mayor Say Soros Is Interested in Funding Reparations Program

George Soros

Billionaire globalist George Soros has expressed interest in financing a local reparations program, according to Democratic LA Mayor Eric Garcetti.

In an interview on Friday the mayor told the Los Angeles Times that an L.A. Reparations Advisory Commission had been formed and that many private entities, including Soros’ Open Society Foundations, were interested in being involved in the funding.

According to the report, Garcetti said “the L.A. advisory commission will not look at ‘all racism’ but will ‘look specifically at reparations around where laws held back’ Black Angelenos’ ability to build wealth”

Gateway Pundit reports: Garcetti told the paper that he also hoped corporations and banks would participate “to begin to make some amends and to push this movement forward.”

However, it would not be considered a way for institutions to “buy forgiveness but to reckon with a complicity that we saw in American capitalism, slavery and post-slavery racism,” Garcetti said.

Garcetti also announced the creation of the National Coalition of Mayors Organized for Reparations and Equity. Which includes eleven mayors from cities including Denver, Austin, Texas, St. Paul, Minn., and Sacramento.

There is currently a battle over whether all black people should be eligible for the liberal city’s reparations program, or just descendants of slaves.

World Refugee Day: How Europe can work with refugees to emerge from the pandemic

The pandemic has not made an easy year for anyone, least of all for refugees. Many who rely on help from the community with accessing services have been faced with virus-fighting policies that favour isolation.

“Even before the pandemic it was not easy to understand the medical system or the bank,” said Dr Haytham al-Hamwi, the manager of the Rethink Rebuilt Society, a UK-based charity working to improve the lives of refugees.

“For many newcomers, the issue was that when difficulties would arise, you could see someone face-to-face – so how about working online now or via a telephone? Of course, it has made things more difficult.”

Al-Hamwi, who has lived in the UK for 13 years, initially to study for his PhD and later as a refugee of the Syrian war, noted in particular that many people would often rely on help from others with language skills and experience – but that COVID-19 had put a halt to this.

He said: “Sometimes you can find people to help you or to go with you to the bank or the jobcentre – but now you must manage everything by yourself.

“My GP didn’t send me anything to book for the [COVID-19] vaccine, even though I’m over 40, so I had to go and find a centre to book for myself. Others I know received text messages from their GPs.”

“But, again, it’s the same problem: when everything is closed, you can’t find people to help you. Refugees might not know they have to find a vaccination centre.”

On World Refugee Day, which is marked on June 20 every year, the United Nations is focusing on the power of inclusion. It encourages countries to develop more inclusive policies for refugees in health systems, schools and sport, with a view of recovering from the pandemic altogether.

Al-Hamwi told Euronews that this process has been hampered for many who are particularly affected by a language barrier in their host country, and with all face-to-face classes grinding to a halt.

“Some people haven’t been able to get into a class for a year and a half,” he said, adding that the majority have found alternatives over Zoom or Skype, while others attend volunteer classes held in churches.

‘Vicious circle’

Researchers at Lund University in Sweden said in February that refugees in Europe are often faced with “significant obstacles” when trying to enter the workforce, leaving many feeling stuck. They highlighted “extensive” requirements for integration programs, official certification of degrees, as well as experience.

In Norway, the same report said refugees can find themselves stuck in asylum centres for years, even after being granted residency permits, with difficulty enrolling on language courses and gaining help to rebuild their lives.

“The most common issue is finding a new job – it’s more difficult to continue your old job since you need to take many qualification tests,” said al-Hamwi, who was speaking specifically about the UK.

“Even if you are a medical surgeon in Syria for 30 years, you have to start your career from the beginning here in the UK. You need to reach a certain level of English and to pass many exams after that.

“Same applies to other professions. Many jobs require UK experience and you can’t get this experience without working, so it’s a vicious circle. It’s not uncommon to see highly qualified refugees suffering depression or anxiety.”

So what’s the answer?

For al-Hamwi, there are several. The first is to avoid policies that threaten sending refugees (most notably Syrians) back to their home countries in the near future.

This “will increase the stress that Syrians are experiencing and the uncertainty will reflect into more psychological problems,” he said, speaking in response to Denmark’s widely-reported move to revoke residency permits of hundreds of Syrian refugees, and asking them to return home.

Turning to the UK, al-Hamwi suggested the development of an integration plan that could see highly qualified Syrians volunteering in roles related to their field.

“There are plenty of opportunities for qualified people as volunteers in their profession – it speeds up their progress with English skills and also helps them to get to know the system better.”

“Even for their mental health, things will improve because they feel like they are working in their field again.”

Al-Hamwi added that he believed such a programme would have a knock-on effect with changing society’s attitudes toward refugees and asylum seekers in general.

“Why don’t we use their skills to benefit society? That will improve the atmosphere around refugees, reduce the hate crimes and reduce the negative views of refugees and immigrants.”

“Where they are being given benefits, they can volunteer, and then they can also be working towards their goal.”

China Tops List of Countries For Most Millionaires Moving Abroad

A recent research report published by AfrAsia Bank listed the top 10 countries in the world that had the most outflow of high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) in 2019. China topped the list with the most millionaires leaving for other countries in that year, followed by India.

The study only covered HNWIs with a net worth of $1 million to $9.9 million who have settled in a new country for at least six months. The report also listed the top countries that have attracted the millionaires.

China saw 16,000 millionaires leave in 2019, much more than India in second place, which saw 7,000 of their financially wealthy leave the country. Russia ranked third with 5,000 millionaires leaving, followed by Hong Kong in fourth place, with 4,200 leaving the politically troubled city. Turkey, the UK, France, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia came in the top ten countries to lose more millionaires.

According to the report, the top reasons for the millionaires to leave for other countries varied from tax, financial concerns, work opportunities, to the environment, better education, better health care, and escaping oppressive regimes.

As for the receiving countries, Australia topped the list, attracting 12,000 HNWI in 2019. The United States took second place with 10,800 HNWI, while Switzerland ranked third with 4,000. Portugal and Greece were also among the top 10 countries attracting HNWI, as they have investor immigration programs for EU residency and citizenship.

The report also laid out that 30 percent of the HNWI emigrated with investor visas, while others used traditional means of work visas, family visas, and obtaining second passports through ancestry.

International media have reported that many rich Chinese are fleeing China’s polluted cities and strict government, while also looking to protect their wealth. A number of China’s billionaires also left the country in 2020. SCMP reported that in 2014, “a Barclays Wealth Report found that around half of China’s rich intended to move to another country within five years.”

Among China’s rich are Chinese officials, who have been known for years to be sending their family members and moving their wealth to Western countries. As there are so many of them, the media has even given the phenomena the name “naked officials.” The brokers, both Chinese and Westerners, who help the officials move their money they accumulated in China through their official positions to offshore banks and invest in international businesses and properties are known as “white gloves.” Many Chinese businessmen have gotten rich through close connections with the regime’s officials and the communist party—benefiting from favorable policies and treatment.

In 2015, Chinese leader Xi Jinping launched “Operation Fox Hunt,” sending secret Chinese agents to foreign countries—including those don’t have extradition treaties with China—to locate and transfer corrupt officials back to China. It’s been revealed in media report in recent years that “Operation Fox Hunt” has also been used by the regime to target overseas Chinese dissidents and their family members.

U.S. officials said of the Chinese operation, “Any law enforcement activity by Chinese law enforcement in the United States of America must be done with the knowledge and concurrence of the United States government and its law enforcement entities.”

In 2020, the FBI indicted eight Chinese operatives engaged in Operation Fox Hunt for blackmailing Chinese dissidents.
