Police Arrest Two Suspects After Weekend Kidnapping, Sexual Assault

Police arrested two suspects June 9 who allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman in Huntington Beach, Calif.

The victim was forcibly kidnapped and sexually assaulted June 6 by two men in the city’s downtown area, according to Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) and was later dropped off on Pacific Coast Highway, where a motorist spotted her and contacted authorities.

During the attack, she sustained numerous injuries and had to be transported to a local hospital; she has since been released.

Asked where specifically the unnamed victim was kidnapped from, HBPD spokesperson Jennifer Carey said the department is only identifying the general downtown area for now because they are still hoping for more witnesses to come forward. They don’t want to taint any witness statements by giving out the exact area, she said.

“We are happy to say that we were able to make arrests, and we know there is not anyone else outstanding with regards to this,” Carey told The Epoch Times. “But since we are still in the investigation, and we are still in the process of building the case, we are being cautious about the information we are providing because we don’t want to do anything that could potentially hurt the integrity of the case.”

There is no relation between the victims or suspects, police said.

Florentino Bacilio, 47, and Angel Evaristo, 30, were arrested and face charges. Both men are from Long Beach.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at at 714-375-5066.
