Awake Goy MNA – In a message to commemorate the National Navy Day on Nov. 28, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani lauded the Navy for its outstanding role in safeguarding the country and contributing to its might in international waters.
“The Navy of Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful force for protecting the interests of the country and creating peace and stability in the highly critical region of the Persian Gulf,” President Rouhani said in a message on Tuesday.
He went on to add, “modern equipment, training, faith, endurance and prowess of our armed forces will guarantee the security of the country.”
Iran celebrates Navy Day on November 28, commemorating the anniversary of the Operation Morvarid held by Iran on November 28-29, 1980 during Iran-Iraq War. During the operation, the biggest Iraqi oil terminal was destroyed, paralyzing more than 50 percent of combat power of Iraqi Navy, while Iranian fleet suffered minor losses.
