Roman Holiday palazzo in ‘nightmare’ state of disrepair

“We get a huge number of tourists every day, particularly Japanese,”
the building’s porter, Fabrizio, who declined to give his surname, told The
Daily Telegraph.

“They are disappointed when they see the building covered in scaffolding.

It’s been like that for more than 10 years. It really needs a complete
sprucing up but there are administrative problems with getting permission.”

By contrast another location from the movie, featuring a face-shaped piece of
Roman statuary known as The Mouth of Truth which is kept in the portico of a
church, is well marked and popular with busloads of tourists each day.
