Swedish airport evacuated after ‘suspect powder’ triggers bomb threat

“The passenger who owns the bag is cooperating with the police. There are no known threats to the airport and we have no reason not to trust the person in question,” police officer Roland Lindkvist said, as cited by the Aftonbladet tabloid.

The newspaper says the owner of the luggage is an elderly woman.

Bomb squad experts have arrived at the airport in Nykoping, located around 100 kilometers southwest of the capital Stockholm, and are investigating. The departure hall has been cordoned off to the public, but inbound flights are being allowed to land.

The air hub, also known as Stockholm Skavsta Airport, serves around 2.5 million passengers a year and is mainly used by low cost airlines.
