Syria: Russia will reject a military intervention in Syria at UNSC

Moscow will veto an initiative of a foreign military intervention into Syria in the UN Security Council (UNSC) as it was stated today by the Russian Foreign Ministry. It was explained that Russia is firmly dedicated to not let pass this initiative of foreign intervention in Syria at the questionable UN Security Council (UNSC).

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov has told Interfax that Moscow is strongly against any kind of an external interference into the Syrian conflict. Deputy Foreign Minister Gatilov is sure that any external interference into the situation in Syria would only worsen the situation.

Gennady Gatilov also said to Interfax that any kind of an external interference into the conflict in Syria would bring unpredictable consequences for Syria and also for the whole region, even for the entire Middle East.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov also stated that Moscow is opposing the convention of a new UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting on the topic Syria in the near future. It seems that this allegedly planned meeting of the UN Security Council could be a similar meeting like the meeting before the war on Libya.

Although Western mass media fails in the real coverage of the current events in Libya, more and more people know that this “No-Fly zone” over Libya was finally a war on Libya and has caused a lot of dead. In addition, the current situation in Libya is no good example for any new military intervention in a sovereign state, on the contrary.

He is also convinced that the statement of the UN Security Council president concerning the horrible massacre in Houla (Houla, near Homs) is a strong enough signal to all the parties in the Syrian conflict and also a “sufficient reaction of the Secrutiy Council”. Not to mention that it is questionable why the horrible “Houla massacre” is in the news, but the other massacre that has happened, seems to be forgotten.

The Russian diplomat is also sure that any new measures against the Syrian government or the sovereignty of Syria would affect the situation and would also be too premature for the UN Security Council (UNSC).

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov was sure not happy about the statements of the French President Francois Holland, who said that a foreign military interference into Syria would be possible. The new French President, who seems to be just another Sarkozy, said earlier, that France does not exclude a military intervention in Syria and that this topic is not out of the questions.

The French President Holland also mentioned that this military intervention has to happen only with the respect to norms of the international law. But what is to think about the so-called international law, while looking at Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Libya and other countries?

Of course, the French president has noted at the same time that also “another solution” is preferable for him and sure for the European Union (EU), too. France demanded more sanctions against the Syrian government, but such sanctions are hypocritically and mainly only harm the Syrian people, although some Western governments still sell the false imagination that those sanctions never harm civilians, which is only to condemn.

It is no surprise that Australia and Belgium support this position of France. Also Germany and Britain could jump in and support it. It would not surprise anyone.
