Teen arrested in US school bomb plot

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Monday after a teacher removed a pipe bomb package left inside the Centaurus high school in the US city of Lafayette, near the University of Colorado at Boulder, local authorities said.

Police captured the suspect at his home where they also found explosives-related evidence.

The child’s name was not made public because police failed to provide a motive for the juvenile offender.

The school has about 1,000 students and is noted for its pre-engineering program.

The event came as violent incidents across the United States continues unabated, with the nation’s federal lawmakers recently refusing to consider legislation for enforcement of more effective background checks on gun buyers and other gun-control measures.

The refusal of American lawmakers to enact better gun-control laws came despite a national outrage following the elementary school massacre of 20 children and 7 adults in the state of Connecticut in December 2012.
