UK health service now being restricted

The evidence, gathered under the Freedom of Information Act by GP magazine, revealed that nine in ten trusts across Britain were enforcing restrictions that included knee and hip operations.

The British government says that there is no justification for the NHS to act in this manner, though Britons are blaming the trend on the cost-cutting policy.

Tonsillectomies were the most common restrictions at 89% of areas imposing on the limitations, but research found further evidence of rationing in other fields.

Cataract surgery had limits that were in place of 66% of trusts, while hip and knee operations and weight-loss surgery were being rationed.

The Labour party also published another survey and found similar patterns of rationing in trusts as patient groups criticized the health system with frustration.

Since the Tory-led government issued its cut backs scheme in Britain, many patients needing operations, are being put on waiting lists that can last up to 3 months.

Some Britons are stressing that they would prefer to pay for private healthcare for a chance of improved stability, as they no longer feel secure using the National Health Service.
