FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered a full-scale military operation against the Boko Haram Takfiri group, pledging to use all available means to ward off the threat of terrorism.
The government will “explore all options, including readiness to accept unconditional renunciation of violence by … [militants], and to ensure their deradicalization, rehabilitation and reintegration into the broader society,” the daily Vanguard quoted Jonathan as saying on Thursday.
The Nigerian president also said he has authorized security forces to use any means necessary to ensure that the militant Takfiri group is defeated.
“I am determined to protect our democracy, our national unity and our political stability by waging a total war against terrorism,” Jonathan said, adding, “The unity and stability of our country, and the protection of lives and property are non-negotiable.”
The statements came a day after suspected Takfiri militants attacked a village in northeastern Borno state, killing over 40 people and setting most of the houses on fire.
The Takfiri militant group operates in the country’s northeast region.
Nigeria is struggling to deal with the abduction of about 300 female students by the group.
The Nigerian leader said he wants to reassure the parents of the schoolgirls that their children will be freed.
The kidnapping, which took place in the remote northeastern town of Chibok weeks ago, has triggered an international outcry and protests in Nigeria, piling pressure on the government to free the girls.
The militants have threatened to sell the girls into slavery.
Boko Haram — whose name means “Western education is forbidden” — says its goal is to overthrow the Nigerian government.
Many Muslim scholars around the world including in Iran, however, have condemned the group as non-Islamic.
