Elon Musk is warning all of humanity about the coming World War III and advising us all to “get to Mars before” we all die.

Musk is quite concerned that religious extremism will trigger nuclear attacks that would prevent exploration to the Red Planet.

The technological maverick said: “Mankind may only have a brief window to set foot on Mars before a disaster such as a third World War makes it no longer possible. I think we need to acknowledge that there is certainly a possibility of a third World War, and if that does occur it could be far worse than anything that’s happened before.”

Another scenario envisioned by Musk includes “a powerful anti-technology social movement throughout the world that can set us back by several decades” by restricting funding for space research.

Very soon, Musk will announce plans for his Mars Colonization Transport program (MCT) because getting this project under way is paramount.

As far as life on Mars, Musk hopes that “if we do find some sign of it, then for sure, we need to understand what it is and be sure that we don’t extinguish it. That’s important, but I think the reality is that there isn’t any life on the surface of Mars.”

The race to the red planet also includes NASA who throwing in their bid for a manned mission to Mars by 2030, competing directly with the Mars One endeavor.

Scott Hubbard, former executive for the NASA Mars program, told the press : “We believe we now have an example of a long-term, cost-constrained, executable humans to Mars program.”

Bill Nye, chief executive officer of the Planetary Society (PS), hosted an event with “a group of 70 space experts” to tell the world about “key points in a scenario that would send astronauts on a trip to orbit Mars by 2033.

Nye said he was “very pleased to see how this mission is “doable without breaking the bank. An independent cost estimate showed that the Mars program would fit within a budget that grows with inflation after NASA ends its lead role in the International Space Station.”

Hubbard confirmed: “If NASA’s commitment to the space station ended in 2024 that would free up funds for the 2033 orbital mission, leading to a landing in 2039 for a short stay on the Red Planet. Along the way, orbital crews could guide remote-operated robots on the Martian surface or on the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos.”
