Vanessa Raghubar, 22, has been pronounced dead, after a drunk-driving police officer rammed into her vehicle, according to reports.
Vanessa had been celebrating her sister’s birthday and was returning home at approximately 4 AM.
Officer Neville Smith was driving drunk at the time.
Officer Smith crashed into Vanessa’s vehicle, injuring her and two passengers.
Vanessa was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she passed away.
She was about to graduate from York College with a degree in psychology, according to reports.
“She had a great future ahead of her. We need justice. He needs to face the consequences for what he did,” said her mother.
Officer Smith was charged with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.
“He was a cop and he was drunk. We want justice. He was supposed to protect us, not kill us,” said one of Vanessa’s relatives.
“I’m heartbroken. I never thought when she left home Saturday she would never come back to me.”
