According to a statement issued by the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters on Wednesday, more than 42,000 people were also evacuated from their homes following the heavy rainfalls, Xinhua reported.
Furthermore, 123,000 hectares of croplands along with 3,921 rooms in 11 cities of Hunan province were damaged as a result of the torrential rains.
Registering 236.5 mm record-level rainfall over the course of past 24 hours, the province has witnessed damages to its infrastructure. Many country seats have also gone under flood waters.
Local authorities in disaster-stricken areas of Hunan have been warned to be more watchful as more downpours are expected on Thursday.
