Something to consider if you’re vacationing in Thailand: This new video from the Ecologist Film Unit takes a look at how the Thai tourist trade’s promotion of elephant tourism is contributing to baby elephants being captured in Burma (their parents often killed in the process), smuggled into Thailand, and then cruelly broken in to ready them for trekking, wildlife parks and other tourist destinations. Only one-in-three baby elephants actually survives the journey and breaking in process.
