NEW YORK (AP) — A breast cancer survivor says she was subjected to a humiliating public patdown at a New York airport even though she offered to produce documentation about her medical implants.

Business consultant Lori Dorn said in a blog that the patdown at John F. Kennedy International Airport added “insult to injury and caused me a great deal of humiliation.”

The TSA later apologized for the incident.

Dorn was heading to San Francisco last week when a full-body scanner detected her prostheses. Dorn said she explained she had recently undergone bilateral mastectomy and had tissue expanders implanted for future breast reconstruction. A Transportation Security Administration agent refused to let her retrieve documentation from her wallet “that explains the type of expanders, serial numbers and my doctor’s information,” she said.

“I had no choice but to allow an agent to touch my breasts in front of other passengers,” Dorn said.

In a tweet on her Twitter account Monday, Dorn said she received an apology from a JFK official “who agreed that proper policy wasn’t followed.”

In its own blog, the TSA said it regretted the incident.

“We do our best to treat passengers with the dignity and respect they deserve, but in Lori Dorn’s case, it looks like we missed our mark,” it said.

The TSA said the security director at JFK has reached out to Dorn to learn more about what happened.

The agency said medical cards “are a great way for passengers to discreetly let us know about a medical situation or disability,” and in Dorn’s case TSA agents should have “been more empathetic to her situation.”

It added that private screenings can be requested by anyone for any reason.

The agency said it recently rolled out a four-part in-service training course focused on screening prosthetics. Training is expected to be completed across the country in over a year.

Dorn said that while she understood the need for safety, airport security agents needed to show compassion and sensitivity.

This was a video of what it’s like when a white family man complies by letting them on the bus and answering their questions. What happens when you assert all of your rights? If you’re deemed to be an easy target and you get the not-so-nice agent who gets inside your vehicle, he can plant drugs, and you can lose your assets through drug forfeiture and end up in a for-profit prison system. All it takes is one or a few agents out of all those nice agents to keep the money rolling in.

    If they had attempted to touch his wife or kids, you’d have seen him react, I don’t doubt that. I’m sure these guys don’t hear someone inform them they are in violation of constitutional rights like Alex told him, on a daily basis.
    
    Just informing them about this violation is a stern warning and it allows them know not try anything more that. A wild animal will growl or give warnings before someone approaches their family. If that doesn’t work and respect isn’t shown, she will take action.
    Done peacefully and respectfully can send a message. It is also a better example for his kids to see it done in this way.
Alex you should probably be aware that when he asks you if its ok to come on board and you said YES, you just gave him permission to search your vehicle right…at the very least a visual inspection. Can’t complain 4th amendment rights when you waive the right to the inspection.

Not sure what the law is in Texas but in NY cops try to trick individuals by saying they are going to search the vehicle, phrasing it as if you are being informed of procedure, hoping you will say “ok” which they argue is consent to search. If you say NO, they must provide a warrant. At the very least NY says they can ask for your license and where your going but the police cannot escalate any further if nothing is suspocious (ex. fake license or your story doesn’t add up).

Its about 80 miles north of the border on US 77 not 100. If you passed threw A little Town Called Raymondville, the last town you will pass before a long stretch of road of 30 plus miles to this Checkpoint while on US 77 you may have noticed the fema camps there off the east of the expressway and reported nothing on them?? Cmon Alex!! JUST LOOK EM UP FOLKS WILLACY COUNTY DETENTION CENTERS FEMA . They have been expanding these facilities for the past few months. Martial Law is Comming Prepare Yourselves !
That was a good video. It gives a good view of what people go through every day. It has been something new and different for me to experience since moving to the southwest.
He didn’t seem like he was an angry patrol man though. I was watching his eyes. I can tell he believes he is doing a service, and seemed to be taking it in stride when Alex informed him of his constitutional rights.

Who knows what these guys have been taught or conditioned to believe about why they need to do this? The ones I’ve seen have been friendly, but yes, that uniform could intimidate and frighten anyone not accustomed to this type of scrutiny.

The most annoying thing about all of this is that we all know they have technology to stop, or call out any real threats, which could prevent everyone from being inconvenienced, interrogated or stopped. It doesn’t matter how nice, or not nice they are, it is wrong and isn’t necessary.

One thing I have noted passing through these checkpoints are those white, truck like vans, and I was thinking they had people inside them with the those scanners to be able to look through or inside vehicles and listen to conversations. I didn’t see one in this video. Perhaps I’m wrong about their purpose though.
I do not know if it is legal but if the thuggy drone border patrol drones can even require an answer to the question “are you a US citizen?” I mean if you are not, do you think an illegal will tell the truth? No way, will they tell the truth. So what is the point of asking? To harrass people and condition you to give into illegal searches and accept the illegal check points. I have never encountered one of these but I will tell them nothing. Lets all start refusing to even answer this question. It is a stupid question and illegals will simply lie.

  I once was just walking down the road I live on (way out in the sticks) and a Sheriff’s vehicle stoped and asked me for ID, I told him there was no reason for him to ask me for ID and I would not produce ID for his “request”.
  He exploded in rage and I laughed and started walking away. At that point he screamed freeze and I tuned around (while still walking backward) and he had drawn his gun and was pointing it at me.
  I kept walking telling him, “what? you gonna shoot me Adolf?” and told him he was violating my 4th and I was not in Nazi Germany even if he thought we were.
  He really got pissed then and got into his car and drove on down the road ahead of me at a walking pace until I got to my driveway (some 300yrds down the road) and then he backed up to my drive to find me closing a gate so he could not enter off of the road.
  He then had “Backup” arrive and I just stood there behind the gate laughing while he and the “backup” talked through the car window.
  After a long conversation between the two the guy got back into his car and the two drove off.
  I went to the house and grabbed a rifle and started target shooting, when they both came back to my gate and I just set at my shooting table and kept shooting until they drove away again.
  Since that day NO “Officers” have stopped me while walking down the road or even driving!

I’ve had some tough critiques of Alex over the years, but I don’t think many people can possibly deny this fella has a big set of cajones, not just an internet pair, like so many do.

They have been here for years and I must have been through them a couple of hundred times.
Now, no one is going to mistake me for a “muslim terrorist” and I guess I don’t look like a drug runner (the Pillsbury Dough-Boy, maybe) but not a bad person, so maybe that’s why I don’t have a bad report to submit.
