Three people have been arrested after a series of shootings in Sydney’s west in the past fortnight.

AN alleged gunman accused of firing at another car during a shoot-out in Greenacre has been refused bail.

Hussayn Toby, 35, chose to remain in the prisoner cells when his charges were briefly mentioned before Bankstown Local Court Magistrate Garry Still today.

Another man Khoder Katrib, 27, and a woman Giselle Taylor are also facing charges linked to the attack.

Taylor, 24, was charged with conceal serious offence and possess prohibited drug. She was granted bail on the conditions to she report to police, not contact or associate with Toby and stay away from the Bankstown area.

The trio were arrested in Yagoona in Sydney’s south west yesterday, but Taoube is the only person charged with firing a weapon during the gunbattle.

Police allege two firearms were found inside the vehicle, and one of the weapons was loaded with ammunition.

During the shoot-out on Monday night, people in two cars exchanged gunfire at the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and Mimosa Road about 10pm.

Two stray bullets lodged in the front of a house on the corner of Hillcrest Avenue, with a family of four escaping injury.

Toby, Katrib and the woman were charged after Tactical Operations Unit police stopped their car about 5.45pm.

Toby is charged with shoot with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, possess loaded firearm, possess prohibited drug and other firearms offences.

He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

Katrib faced Bankstown Local Court earlier today, where police did not oppose conditional bail.

Police do not say Katrib was involved in the shooting, however, he was charged with resisting police during the arrest by Tactical Operations Unit police at about 5.45pm yesterday.

Toby and Katrib were with a 24-year-old woman when heavily armed police – including the Metropolitan Robbery Unit and Tactical Operations Unit Police – stopped an orange Ford sedan as they were driving along Brennan St, Yagoona.

The two men were removed from the car and handcuffed, with police last night questioning the older man over a shooting at Greenacre on Monday night.

A witness, who asked not to be named, told The Daily Telegraph the police were heavily armed.

“There was police with balaclavas, a SWAT team, police dogs. It was very dramatic,” the witness said.

Local officers and the Metropolitan Robbery Unit conducted a thorough search of the car and took video footage.

Police, who described the arrest as “high risk”, seized a loaded firearm after allegedly finding it during a vehicle search.

Katrib’s matter returns to court in two weeks.

The latest drive-by shooting – the ninth in less than two weeks – occurred between two cars at the intersection of Hillcrest Ave and Mimosa Rd about 10pm, with two stray bullets hitting a nearby home.

A number of shell casings were found at the scene and both vehicles allegedly involved were found.

A stolen silver Toyota RAV4 was found burnt out that night on Defoe St, Wiley Park and a black Audi A6 was found the next day dumped on Unwins Bridge Rd, Sydenham.
