Awake Goy Days of Palestine, West Bank -Israeli occupation authorities issued in 2015 around 60 house arrest orders against Palestinian children in West Bank and Jerusalem.
Palestinian Prisoners’ Committee said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation authorities have issued more than 300 house arrest orders against Palestinian children during the past few years.
One of the Palestinian children under arrest is Milad Najib, 16, from the West Bank city of Ramallah, in respect of whom the Israeli Central Court issued a house arrest order on January 27, 2016.
The house arrest order was issued against Milad after 25 days of detention, included investigation without the presence of any adult relative. He was released on bail and after paying a fine worth NIS10,000 ($2,700), in addition to the house arrest.
According to the house arrest order, Milad has to remain at home with his mother. His mother is obliged to remain at home with him; therefore, she is unable to go to her work as she is a school teacher.
“He and me are prevented from leaving home even to my school or his school or to see a doctor,” the mother said, noting that this meant she is also under house arrest.
She added: “We were told by the Israeli court that he will be turned back to prison if he or me had left the house for any reason.”
Commenting on this, Director of the Euro-Mid Observer for Human Rights Dr Rami Abdu said: “This way, the Israeli occupation blackmails the Palestinian children. It also turns the parents from caretakers to jailers insider their houses.”
Speaking to Days of Palestine, Abdu stressed that this is opposed by the international laws and conventions. “This is a flagrant violation of the international law and conventions by the Israeli occupation, which thinks that through these acts it would never let the world knows about its violations against Palestinian children.”
