Burkina Faso-Mali tribal clashes leave 25 dead
BBC – At least 25 people have been killed in days of tribal clashes over land rights along the Burkina Faso-Mali border, local officials say. The violence erupted in the Malian village of Sari between Burkina Faso’s Peul ethnic group and the Dogon tribe from Mali. Most of the victims were Peul, reports say. The source of tension appears to be the passing of the livestock owned by the Peul through Dogon farming areas. Under the rule of Mali’s ousted President Amadou Toumani Toure, an ethnic Peul, the herders were allowed to cross into the Dogon territory on special paths. Read Article
