Egyptian, Russian officials discuss Dabaa nuclear plant

TCP : Egyptian Minister of the International cooperation Saher Nasr and Russian ambassador to Cairo Sergei Bachenko on Thursday discussed latest development for the constructions of Dabaa nuclear power plant, according to a statement from Egyptian Ministry of the International Cooperation.

Egypt_Saher Nasr_Russian ambassador ergei bachenkoBoth sides have tackled signing four contracts on construction of Egypt’s first plant, and the acceleration of signing a deal to establish a free trade zone, the statement said.

The two officials also discussed economic cooperation between both countries.

In Nov. 2015, The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and head of the Russian nuclear company Rosatom have signed an agreement to build four reactors as a first phase of the plant.

The construction is scheduled to start in mid 2016 while the first reactor to operate by2020.
