Father of Anders Behring Breivik considered committing suicide

In Anders 1,500-page manifesto, which he published online before the attacks,
he blamed his father for the estrangement.

“He has four children, but has cut off contact with all of them. So I
think it is pretty clear who is at fault,” he wrote.

Jens has three children from his first marriage, and Anders from his second
marriage to Wenche Behring. The two spilt soon after Anders’ was born and Ms
Behring took her son to Oslo.

The last time Jens spoke to his son was in 2005 when Anders called to say he
started his own company and was doing well. They promised to stay in touch
but never did.

The business, according to Anders’ manifesto, was the first step of a
nine-year plan culminating in the July attacks, which he orchestrated “to
save Norway and western Europe from cultural Marxism and a Muslim takeover”.
Police later proved Anders’ plan was largely fabricated.

Jens has no photographs of his son, not even of Anders as a young boy.

He said: “Sometimes, when you have made a very serious mistake, you just
want to forget it. Not be reminded.”
