‘Germany offers N-aid to Iran’

Iran has the right to use the nuclear energy for civilian purposes, and we are ready to support Iran technically in this regard, IRNA quoted Westerwelle as saying in an interview with the Friday edition of the daily Leipziger Volkszeitung.

Westerwelle added that Germany would work with all its power to find a political and diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear energy issue.

The German minister also called for Iran’s further transparent cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Westerwelle’s remarks came a day after Iran and the representatives of the five UN Security Council members plus Germany (P5+1) wrapped up two days of multifaceted talks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Thursday.

Iran and the P5+1 – Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany — agreed to hold another round of negotiations in the Russian capital of Moscow on June 18-19.

Tehran maintains that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the IAEA, it is entitled to acquire and develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
