“Syriza won’t betray the Greek
people,” he said in comments televised live on state-run NET TV. “We
are being asked to agree to the destruction of Greek society. The three
pro-bail-out parties have the numbers, and they can form a government.”
Earlier Mr Tsipras said he will not join or support a pro-bail-out coalition
government, saying he cannot agree to what he terms a mistake.
The leaders of the Communists, the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn group and the
Democratic Left party were next in line for talks with the president.
After elections last Sunday failed to produce a viable government, Greece is
facing the prospect of new elections by mid-June if political leaders fail
to form a unity government.
