Iran allows import of frozen Russian beef

Iran’s Veterinary Organization has endorsed a protocol on Russian frozen beef supplies, the Russian agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iran’s Veterinary Organization experts visited Russia twice this year to test Russian control systems in beef and poultry production.

“The coordination of the protocol is in fact the official Iranian market opening for Russian beef producers,” Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement following the bilateral meeting.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, Iran has also requested that a visit be arranged of Russian fish processing plants that want to export fish products to Iran.

By the end of the two-sided talks, the parties have agreed to provide the veterinary certificate for Russian fish exports to Iran as soon as possible.
