Israel Attacks Syrian Army For Second Day In A Row

The Israeli army struck two artillery launchers and an ammunition truck on the Syrian side of the border on Sunday after “several Syrian projectiles” landed in Israeli occupied territory without causing any casualties.

Just yesterday the IDF ordered an airstrike less than an hour after about 10 stray shells landed on Israeli occupied territories near Quneitra, where President Assad’s forces are battling Al-Nusra Front militants.

According to Syrian military source says Israel’s airstrikes on the Golan Heights on Saturday coincided with a push by Al-Nusra Front terrorists against Government army positions, which was aborted

Haaretz reports:

Israel attacked a Syrian army units in the northern Golan Heights on Sunday after errant fire from the Syrian side spilled over into Israeli territory, the second cross-border flare-up in two days.

The Israeli army struck a Syrian army ammunition truck and two artillery guns in the Syrian Golan, the army confirmed after Syrian and Lebanese news outlets reported the attack.

“The IDF is not a side to the internal fight in Syria and isn’t involved in it. However, it views with severity any attempt to harm the sovereignty of Israel and the safety of its citizens and considers the Syrian regime responsible for what transpires in its territory,” the IDF said in a statement.

The army also instructed civilians to steer clear of open areas in the Israeli side, opposite the Syrian town of Quneitra, where rebels and Syrian army troops are fighting.

Syria’s state news agency SAANA cited a statement by the Syrian military saying that the Israeli attack hit services facilities and a residential building which claimed the lives of several civilians. The statement added that the incident proved the connection between Israel and local terror groups.
